[Yes I'm Adopted] How "Grateful" We Are That We Weren't Aborted

I don’t know how grateful I am... I mean, it’s cool I’m alive I guess. But like honestly it’s not a great situation that I was born into. I don’t know much though. It really wasn’t my choice. But I hear this ALL the time. I’ve been through that mindset. In a county where abortion was acceptable and the thing to do... I was born. Literally my own family has said this to me. If I bring something up I get that answer. Haha Anyone could have been aborted... anyone. I’m not going to get too political either but wow. People these days. Lol Have I ever thought about my non-existence- yes. I even fantasized about it for a good couple of months to years. Sometimes even now. #triggerwarning

One of my best friends' mum was only 15 when she had her, and my friend always was very aware that her mum had 'done her a favour' by keeping her and not having her aborted, even though she wasn't adopted or anything. It's such an unfair thing to make children confront, especially when they didn't have any say in existing in the first place, and I'm sorry it's something you guys have been told to be grateful for a lot.

If we've learned anything over the years it is that people can say some really dumb and insensitive things, but also that now we're adults and get to decide how to respond. It's been interesting to dig into the deeper impact behind these comments and really to use it as an opportunity to understand ourselves better. Anyway, thanks for watching!!!

🙋 Me! I'm excited for Season 4 and I find you interesting. Lol. I'm honestly glad that you spoke on this topic. Some people are so misinformed and plain ignorant that it's pathetic. Everyone alive, even the pro-choicers should be glad that they were not aborted. If they were, they wouldn't have the right to say anything!! Thanks, guys!!
