All of these locomotives were homed in Vishakapatnam and used to haul iron ore trains on the Kotavalasa to Kirandul line. If any of them still exist, the most likely place will be Vishakapatnam ..

I have seen ASEA loco running in vskp. Once it was sent to Tatanagar loco shed for repair, but nothing could be done. These Swiss made locos were imported by Narsimha Rao govt. In 1992. ASEA locos were made for European climate conditions, was fit to run between -10 degree centigrade to 20 degree centigrade, was semiconductor based and not at all suitable for Indian climate. They all succumbed to hot Indian weather condtion within 1 or 2 year and were removed from service. One single unit had 6000 hp, was a treat to view but not at all good for Indian condition.

During 1996 to 2000 it was use Visakhapatnam Division for Fright. It was stopped due to direct import and heavy expense

Bhai, i belong to a railway family. My dad was a mail express gaurd and im asst loco pilot now. But i have a question for u that even my superiors have no clue about. We have Co. Co wheel arrngmnts in mjority of trains and also have Bo. Bo in wap5 but we had only one Bo. Bo. Bo loco, the wag6b. Ive talked to a retired loco pilot who used to operate those locos and he says it has better traction with zero wheel slipping and faster acceleration. Usually double headed they cn start a really heavy tanker consist wiyhout any trouble in a 1 to 32 gradient and maintain a? Min. Speed of 75 kmph. Why dont we use Bo. Bo. Bo arrngmt anymore. I think if used in wdg4 with the gto clntrols (old units) and revamped alco wdp3a would be phenominal. It can increase T. E for the WDG4 and increase top speed to atleast 175 on the WDP3A. also the WAG9HH with a Do. Do would have more adhesion and could solve the wheel slippage in gradients when running at below 40kmph. Can you please do slmr ressarch and enlighten us...❤ It would be awesome if yould do that brother.

But accommodating transformer in case of electric and diesel tank in case of diesel loco is challenge, with higher power transformer becomes large and you can stuff everything inside machine room space, but we can't cool equipments properly and efficiency drops. Yet we can research on BO×3 arrangement

@aadityavasan.s6546 yes, it would be hard designing a big diesel tank with a Bo. Bo. Bo arrangement and keep the length and weight within limits.... 🙂

@@leelammajohnvarghese8143 but emds have very compact propulsion system yet handles 4500hp, so with g6b room we can definitely pack in transformer, 9000hp electronics and cooling systems required for it

WAG 6,6A,6B all were or are running with DC motors. Major change occurred when WAP 5,WAG 9 and superstar WAP 7 were available and are driven by AC motors, though not directly. AC motors have very less maintainance, power consumption per tonne and cost , compared to DC. Hence all DC motored loco got outdated and inefficient,, expenditure wise. They lost due to inventions.... Just like telephone lost to mobile.
