Alex - You humble me with your video that shows the rocks I sent to you were part of your latest video on KZbin. I have been collecting since the early 1970's and have amassed a few hundred pounds of rock (maybe a few ton). Always happy to help someone that is starting to enjoy what I consider the greatest and most rewarding hobby in the world. I always enjoy Kip's and your videos. A great pair to watch! Keep the videos coming.

Lol Nevermind, I can ask myself! Hi Parley, im Nanette. I've been collecting for about the same amount of Years. That cut off box that you sent has a piece of white agate with brownish inclusions that are round a smooth. Of you have a name for that one? Location info is here in the comments to Alex. I have some old ones that haven't been sawed if you're still working on stuff.

@@nanettebarling1222 If you will send me the time of the video that the agate appears, I will definitely try to identify. I went through Alex's video and I found him holding a clear piece of agate with black spherical inclusions. That one is Montana agate. Yes, I am still cutting and polishing stones. The only problem is that winter is approaching and my shop does not have heat in it. Therefore it has been winterized. I will be cutting normally in mid-March or April. My email address is gparley@gmail.com.

Stromatolites are an algae growth phenomena. They Form as mats of algae, multiple layers develop. They sort of look like legs sticking out of the ocean topped by a green scummy layer. You can still find them in some areas of the world. Stromatolites were one of the first life forms on planet Earth. We find their fossilized remains on some of the beaches along Lake Michigan. For a better explanation google them.

@@AgateAngler sounds great my friend! I am free every monday and tuesday but if weather is looking a bit iffy i can probably work out a different day👍 just checked the weather and it looks like we should be getting an upswing in temperature at the end of the month so that could make for a good hunt i think! Supposed to be 19 on monday so it might take a hammer and chisel to get the agates out of the ground😂

Most Citrine is formed by heat treating purple Amethyst. Citrine may also be produced by heat-treating Smoky Quartz from certain localities. ... Virtually all heat-treated material has a reddish tint, whereas the natural specimens do not. Natural light yellowCitrine is often called "Lemon Quartz" on the gemstone market.

Turritella Agate is the popular name used for a brown, translucent to semi-transparent, fossiliferous agate found in the Green River Formation of Wyoming. It is very easy to recognize because it contains large fossil snails that stand out in a white-to-tan color that contrasts with the brownish agate. This organic gem material was incorrectly named decades ago when the christener thought that the spectacular spiral-shaped gastropod (snail) fossils entombed within the stone were members of the marine Turritella genus. That was a mistake. Instead, the fossils are of the freshwater snail, Elimia tenera, a member of the Pleuroceridae family.

Just found your channel for the first time and WOW! Talk about gorgeous agates.. They are stunning, lucky you.. an what an amazing person Parley is to send you such a precious bundle! Heck the agates we have here in NZ are Nothing like the rest of the world. I had given up thinking agates were even pretty until I watched this!.. Has inspired me to set up my new jade saw and give cutting a go tho.. Will make a change from hand faceting gems for a while.. Thank you for sharing, Love it!!

I love rocks, don't know much about them, I would love to learn.....lately I started painting them, I should be careful not to paint the ones with gems ....2 years ago I went to a Goodwill outlet ,crazy, I found a box of rocks, I put them in water to see the magic, then I dry them and put them away 😷

Wow I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♀️ which ones I love the most because there’s so many beautiful ones thanks for showing.. What I love most is when you look at some pieces it’s like looking down to earth from space.

Such an awesome video. I'm knew at rockhounding. Here in Louisiana I have found just a few nice ones. I actually ordered some, so I could get a variety. My sweet sister gifted me a tumbler for Christmas. This is such a wonderful hobby.
