The robot voice IS almost convincing except for all the emphasis is confused ie "she said emphatically" but doesn't say It that way. It happens throughout.

It is narrated by actor Jason Fraser.

@@wordsculpt no, it is not. In some of the other uploads he mispronounces the name Hercule Poirot and several other words. One would think Jason Frasier would know how to pronounce it. As well as a lot of weird pauses around punctuations. Like he ends the sentence, but there is another word and then that word just gets said. It's not a real person. The ai also misses on doing the voices consistantly. A real person would do thw voices consistently.

This is a crummy story. I don't believe it was written by Agathe Cristie at all. To say a Beroness would take her sister as a servant and no friends or family would notice is ludicrous. And having a ghost talker know the story of the man tipping the boat over. And killing a main character by sickening from chocolate then being drown by her sister/servant at another location then the sister die of a hart attack. Also the story had none of the interesting details of a typical story by the author. This was not good. 👎

It was written by Christie in 1926, one of the stories in The Mysterious Mr Quin. Her output was a bit variable at times.

The substitution took place on the other side of the world from the family, in the days when the quickest way home (whether for people, or even just news) was by sailing ship. It may have been many years before Marjory returned to rejoin her family with the woman who believed herself to be her maid. Your other points also have plausible explanations or are based on a misunderstanding. For instance the "ghost talker" was clearly the maid/sister, who had been roped in to the seance to make up the numbers, and who had been there in Italy when the boat capsized (I seem to remember it was even she who invented the nickname). Agatha C routinely tortured probability until it broke down in this way. I don't see how she could have been half as prolific without tilting the playing field decidedly in her favour.

@thesmallerhalf1968 thank you for vouching for the story's authenticity. I thought for sure it was AI generated. I have to say I am very befuddled by why she published a story so out of her usual style and of lower qualit. It tarnished her sterling penmanship in my opinion. I love her work so it comes as a bit of a shock. I have noticed a many of her stories are very set up where all the clues necessary are found even some that are obscure and unlikely, but at least everything is somewhat logical (unlike Scuby Do) and it is possible to follow the clues and correctly guess the perpetrator most of the time and rarely does the validity of the verdict seem doubtful in the end. And, at the same time you get a bit of a glimpse at a completely different place and time created with decent direct knowledge of the period. I do have to say the AI narrator can get a bit weird and annoying at time with the crazy sheep bleating sounds and such at odds and random times. Also, the AI can not always put the tone of the sentences correctly at times, although it is decent most of the time.

@@Gottenhimfella it is an interesting probably that the ghost talker was the sister/made. I didn't even think of this, but it makes sense. I guess the person putting on the sconce may have been a bit surprised if this was a real occurrence. 😳

He's a narrator, not an actor. He does add some inflection to the rendition that isn't found in A.I. What's your obsession with insisting that these tales are A.I.? For God's sake! Either enjoy the stories or don't listen to them.
