Great propagation results. You can just cut the damage off instead of removing whole leaves though. It’s less traumatic for the plants (and for beginner gardeners)

How well does fox tail agave handle the cold? My landlord wants to plant a bunch of fox tail agave here in Sacramento California, but we always get week long winter cold snaps here that get down to 20 degrees F.

That's a nice stand of Washingtonia robusta your backyard neighbor has. I didn't know they were as sun sensitive as they are, as I've seen them growing all over So. California. I guess I wasn't paying attention that most of them were growing in shady areas.

What city do you live in? I have one I just got and I live in the desert. But 117 degrees is hotter than it gets here
