Hey! thanks to you, I came to your tutorial after having tried the technique that EbSynth uses and not getting good results, Mocha Pro and After have been a much more professional solution. Now my question (I don't know if anyone has come across this limit) If the subject's head rotates more than about 20 degrees the facial features are deformed and obviously since it is not real 3D, the mesh stretches. What do you suggest for these cases? Maybe do more than one step per shot? That is, divide the movement so that there are several frames of reference? Thank you in advance for continuing to respond.

Hello and thanks a lot for this video! I've been trying to make this working for a few hours on a short video I took but I have a problem. When my head turn on the left or right, then the whole face looks quite weird, as if there were some kinds of "stairs" on both the left and right (especially on the top left-right part of the head). So, I was wondering if there is something else to do in order obtain something smoother when your turn your head on one side or the other rather than have the face looking at the camera the whole time. Is it even possible actually? :D Thanks a lot in advance!
@flo.motion
@flo.motion 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, the problem could be that the face is turning too much! Be aware: when you create the reference frame, you need to make sure to take a frame, where every detail that shows throughout the shot is already visible. For example if you turn your face from the side to the camera, it is better to take a reference pic from the end where both eyes and ears and so on are visible... so you need clever thinking when creating the reference frame
@rossshain1893
@rossshain1893 4 жыл бұрын
Did you track with perspective on? Mocha is clever but is still a 2.5D workflow, so for some rotation shots, the only method for solves is to move to a full 3D solution. If it is quality you are after, you can increase the warp render quality (under stabilize tab) to HIGH. Also, you can add more vertice points to subdivide the mesh for higher quality render AFTER tracking. Maybe useful? kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZqqYaCmYpt-Y6s

@@flo.motion Thanks a lot, Flo! I took great care of not placing my hands in front of my face but I didn't think too much about the head. It might be the problem. I'll try to make it work following your advices. Maybe I would need to take a new reference pic for each time my face turns a lot on the left, right or stay more or less in front of the camera? (I'm a beginner at this so I have a lot to learn ^^)

@@rossshain1893 Thanks a lot, Ross! I did track it with perspective on. I think I followed everything as showed in the tutorial but in my video the face turns much more on the left or right side. I'll do several more tests following your advices. I might need to take another video looking more or less straight at the camera the whole time. I've started to watch the video you linked, thank you! It's going to be helpful. I should actually learn the basics of Mocha Pro, as I'm a total beginner at this. Ah, by the way, could you tell me what kind of 3D solutions are available? Even if I can't afford them, I'm curious about how this would work. Thank you again and have a great day!

Is mesh only available in Mocha Pro? Is there anything comparable in regular AE stock Mocha?
@flo.motion
@flo.motion 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Mesh is only available in Mocha Pro! And unfortunately there is nothing that comes close to it within the standard AE; except you want to get really complicated, like parent tracking data to puppet pins or something like that

How did you achieve that effect at 7:30? The grid effect?
@flo.motion
@flo.motion 3 жыл бұрын
Super easy! Create a new layer and apply the effect called "grid"! Done! But you do not have to do it to get the result from my tutorial! This is just so you have a visual reference. But for the overall effect you do not need the grid!

Yes. Just move the slider in the opposite direction. But don't expect miracles.
