This became super-hard after a certain patch. :( - On hard, they rush directly to you only after 6 mins when you still have to gather resources. I tried many ways to defense them, but all other usual ways didn't work. Finally, I found one way to overcome this moment. First, prepare 4 gold miners, and gatherers about 8-10. Not too many villagers. If you're still under 800 food at 5:30, then buy food and research castle age. In short, do fast castle as fast as you can. This automatically makes your walls more concrete. This is very important. On the castle age, it's time to grow in usual ways. Prepare stone at first as fast as you can, and build a castle at south where they rush the most. Block southern part of the lumber camp so that you can gather wood safely. Gather stone more and set another castle right next to the former one fast. Train knights and axe throwers to cut their rams. - Then, all you have to do is wipe Berbers and Moors. Extra gold areas are mostly near the enemies or with their towers. Good extra stone mines are in west, and gold mines are where your initial army went through past the bridge where there're two Moors' towers. If you clear them up in the first place, then it gets very safe to mine.

I managed to beat the rush just by sacrificing the knights to pull enemies to tower range and killing them with the starting TAs in feudal. When they start sending memelukes and scorpions, just use Martel to kill them from further away and once it's safe let axemen slaughter the rest. Their cavalry has piss poor attack against even feudal walls.

It's a lot harder now. The trick is to rush to castle age and build as fast as possible a castle with murder holes. First castle more in the west and the second at the east end. Tried at first building pikemen, but lost even with 18 of them. But enemy troops don't stand a chance against castles. Try to hold your knights back - you need them against the rams.

One thing did help me a lot, especially after patch (so weak walls) is to attack yellow early. You can destroy their TC and Tariq and they seem no to build anymore. Plus any attack on yellow will trigger BOTH enemies to attack the unit responsible so they will go over whole map back to retaliate. As someone mentioned, rush to castle age (use all available sheeps) and then enjoy Franks cheaper castles. Rams are not an issue once you remove yellow threat. This is more like a puzzle than a mission, really.

Yellow is harmless anyway. Siege rams are easily dealt with by Axemen and even if they advance to Imperial Age they only send weak units at you (Hussar, Champion).

Have they made this harder since the latest update? I'm playing on Series X. Back in February, I did this with no problem on hard. Now after the 4k update, I had to check for other people's videos because I couldn't for the life of me remember how beat it. By the 14 minute mark, I'm already getting swarmed by 50-60 units, including marmelukes who wipe out my throwing axemen in like 5 seconds, and two battering rams. There's now nowhere near enough time to build either a strong enough army *or* a decent castle defence. I mine enough stone to build one castle (after researching CA) and they're already attacking three different gates at the same time. I definitely built three castles before and used the throwing axes to wipe out battering rams. That's impossible now.

In my version of DE there are towers and camels on the road to the city from the starting position. Has there been a patch or is it a different difficulty?

So, how significant is the stone wall nerf? I remember when I played this, I never had the wall breached in the initial attack.

Stone Walls and Gates each have -50% hp in Feudal Age (900 hp and 1375 hp respectively). This hp nerf is reverted immediately upon getting to Castle Age.

@@raynightshade8317 Yup! Anything that you give a player in the scenario reflects the Age of that player ingame. For example, the Moors start in Castle Age, so their Walls have 1800 hp. However, the Frankish buildings in Poitiers have Feudal Age hp because they initially belonged to that neutral Frank player, and were converted over to the Moors instantly.... hope that makes sense 11

Why you rarely research murder hole? Is it not worth it?

I had to go and boom and then destroy Berbers(yellow) and destroy Moors(Saracens). Once u destroy both, you don't even have to worry about the train. You win! This was an easy one. But the start does get hairy as they both have scary looking armies and you are in Feudal age. Rush to castle age (use all available sheeps) and then enjoy Franks cheaper castles - then its easy. With 25 fully upgraded pike-men and 30 Throwing Axemen with few trebs, you can destroy everyone!

For me they rush immidiately and raise my walls... everytime. I dont get it. You have several minutes in this game where they dont attack at all. Really strange. Nevermind, I made it now lol thx for your videos

What about moors? Are they still Turks? Found out the in game Poles are Slavs, they should have been Lithuanians Imo

Yes Barbaros’a poland is now Lithuania and there was leitis instead of huskarls in the 5. Campaign of genghis khan and poland was Lithuania and last game hungary is actually hungary and in 4. Game russians are Slav merkids are Cumans. Those are the things I can remember

The Moors are still Saracens, as they represent the Arab Caliphate. The Berbers are.... Berbers now for obvious reasons lol. As for the Polish, they are indeed now Slavs, which make sense as the Polish are Slavic. You are probably thinking of the Polish-Lithuania Commonwealth, which did not exist until the 16th century

@@hakimsen7147 *buzzer sound* Not quite right I'm afraid ;) In Barbarossa 2, the Polish are now Slavs, as with Genghis Khan 5. You are correct regarding the Russians, Merkids/Kipchaks, and Hungary/Magyars though :)

I think the latest update made it harder. I've noticed a difficulty spike in other scenarios too, which I actually appreciated, but they've made this mission impossible now.
