@@darassylmoniakam nah, bro. This looks extremely oversaturated and unrealistic. The cinematography in the original looked better, and here it just looks klunky and unrealistic, and not to mention it lacks effect. For an example. Compare the soldiers walking over the hill at 0:24 with the original. In original, there is only the silhouettes, and the orange sky, which gives more of a punch. Here it just looks like a mish-mash of various colours. And like that, when it focuses on the side of the train at 0:46 it's shot through this really weird angle. It had more punch in the original, when it was a dead-ahead shot.

I like this but yeah I think its a bit too bright. Doesnt feel anywhere near as gritty as the OG intro. Also yeah certain parts just look like a flat out downgrade: Mainly the flag plant from the OG at 0:34 being replaced with an extremely unnatural goofy looking sword draw. Also the pirates at 1:06 look downright awful in comparison to the ones in the OG, even if its just a quick glimpse.

It's about how you view the conquered, there's incentive to consider them weak or inferior, it hamstrings them by reminding everyone of their defeat, it can devalue them as factions, less incentive to play as them or include them at all. The original message does NOT say this, but it allows for this interpretation to be made

No it isnt, the samurai was a mercenary with a European army, he represented the new mercenary mechanic of the game. When the original intro was made, there were no Asian civ available to play.

Theres no confusion. It was a mercenary( Ronin) for the redcoats. Samurai who had no lords were mercenaries to those who paid well. The old intro was perfect.

3 is incredibly underrated, and they've cranking out new content like crazy, the remaster isn't just graphics, they've rebuilt the whole thing, re-recorded voices for every faction, changing languages to properly reflect the spoken word of the native American factions at the time, as well as renamed a lot of units after contacting the actual tribes represented. They've introduced entirely new countries to play as, including india, America, mexico, barabary states and others

Scene by scene, the models used are superior, but the lighting, animations, camera positioning and pacing is worse than the original. This overall is far too bright compared to the original. 0:00 - Doesn't feel like fog and the ships are far much more readily visible. Loses the sense of mysteriousness and feels far much more cartoonish. 0:08 - I feel like the animation to this should be reversed, he starts off looking down and then looking up to point his hand. It feels more natural to point out and shout down in excitement. 0:13 - Map looks superior, but by having it filled in, it seems as though its .. already explored? 0:15 - Objectively better lens effect simulation. DE wins this round. The lighting, as it is in all scenes though, feels poorly executed. 0:19 - Complete lack of grunge on the characters and the animation feels as though there is no shock at the next scene. 0:21 - Lack of grunge is killing this for me, there is clear overgrowth unlike the original, so it looks uncared for yet .. still cared for given the stones looking pristine. 0:25 - The original scene was executed way far better here. The extra contrast, size of the army gave it way more appeal. The random pond and broken tree feel jarring and do nothing here. 0:29 - Feeble attempt at being Politically Correct. Adventure, though, really? Conflict would be a far better term. It would imply troubles beyond just those of "fighting" and seeking glory. 0:32 - The planting of the feet, the setting down of the flag says so much more about wanting to claim territory than just "show up with guns" - doesn't feel like its on a beach either. 0:40 - Pretty, there are more than just cherry blossoms to Japan. In both representations, this scene is completely random and poorly implemented. 0:44 - Okay, seriously, who is in charge of these fog/smoke effects? These are awful. The original feels far superior here. 0:45 - Bad timing / angle to show the wheels. The music doesn't line up. How did this pass an art director's approval? 0:47 - Far too much ground foliage to show the legs. I get it, the models are bad. 0:48 - Try motion capture next time if you can't do a run animation. This really misses the mark for the core principles of animation. 0:49 - No emotion captured in the face, unlike the original. Yikes. Camera placement here is awful again. 0:53 - LOL, do you see the terrible wind simulation on the flag? Its really bumping around, especially as the scene transitions. The infantry pose is more historically accurate, at least. 0:55 - Okay, no clue why this scene was changed. Too many new models to make maybe? Or already too much confusion? I mean you kept the Japanese Samurai scene... 0:57 - Lack of underbrush in the back is what throws me off about this one. It feels like its just a flat plane with some speedtrees thrown in.. which.. it probably is. How come you added all of that hair to the hat, but then have flat, muddy clumps for the horses? 1:01 - So much for the eagle scene feeling majestic and flying over what is sure to be an impressive landscape, nearby the great plains as demonstrated by the next scene... 1:03 - Its easy to see that the assets in the back are just slapped in without care for any transition, and my golly, climate change must have done a doozy lmao. 1:05 - Everything needs speedtree! Having the camera pointed so far down feels more like a field with some sort of slope behind things, rather than a hill as it is in the original. Cloth simulation for wind does not match trees. Why is cloth being done so much better in the original? The tree leaves feel like they're whipping around, and the flag is just static. 1:06 - Okay, ugly face is still ugly. However, the scene has lost all of its weight, and nobody is looking up to the captain as they did in the original. Did you notice the cloth in the sail jumping? 1:07 - I can't unsee these cloth simulation issues. 1:10 - Replaced the scene of the fort being bombarded with a ship mast being taken down. Ouch on those textures, though. Too bad destruction in DE is basically turned off. 1:11 - Ehhh, still not fond of these explosions/fog simulations. 1:12 - Lol, I love how much the flag just covers the hideous faces. Those horses though, the hair is just.. mud. No motion on the horse makes the scene feel less alive too. Swapped civilizations initiating the attack because.. reasons. 1:13 - I don't like this camera angle. 1:14 - So, the British just sent a volley of cannon fire against the French. But who is ducking for cover here? The British. Swapping the attacking civilization ruins the next few scenes. 1:19 - British fire, own troops are shown as hit. Brilliant. 1:21 - Ah, so even though the British are the one shown taking losses, only the French have in this scene. Are the soldiers at the floating, or is that just me who sees it that way? Check the size of the soldier next to the flag being larger than the one holding it. The original intro didn't screw up perspective this bad. 1:29 - This is okay. Better than the original for a change.
