I had a dream that I was playing Age of Empires, and I had a bunch of farms, but then I realized I never took any sheep. I had a huge flock of sheep sitting around doing nothing, and I panicked. "Oh no, my eco is ruined!" I thought to myself. As I was trying to fix it, my opponent, who was somehow in imperial age despite me being in dark ages or feudal or something along those lines, sent a massive army of like 150 military with trebs and everything. I hadn't even made a military building yet. It was the most crushing defeat I'll ever experience, and it was all a dream.

That's actually great play from English. His resource management is really good I'd say. If GUA scouted the first small LB / spear raiding party (unfortunately he was deer hunting at that time), he probably could have kept both his knights in base and pushed off the first raiding group just in time before the 2nd raiding group arrived. That was great game, probably impossible for me to pull off tho. My resource / villager management is a mess.

At this point, I have to say that English is the faction I hate the most. Every single one of them always seems to rush as quickly as possible (just cause they can) and having played them a few times myself, they're such an easy faction to play that it hardly feels fair. They're the main reason I absolutely HATE the Black Forest map... it's like Robin Hood and his lackeys are always knocking on my doorstep.

@@Zeddy-zq1lc There's still a ladder! Just no dedicated 'ranked' mode yet, allthough in a way every game is still rated right now because you play against people that have a similar level of skill as you do (or at least the game thinks they do).

Is going men at arms as French good in this position? I’m thinking men at arms and build outposts while you’ve got the archers backing up. Maybe horsemen to compliment maa if they try anything crazy with spears, getting too far from archers, and to torch battering rams. Btw, I’m very new and only play English and Rus so I’m genuinely wondering but from my perspective, it seems like people overcommit to the ideal plan for their nation and then try to adapt it when sometimes you just need to shake it up, altogether.

French don’t get men at arms until castle age and you don’t get to castle age without gold. Bottom line is GUA needed an outpost on gold but must have thought it was in a safe enough spot

Maa are more gold efficient than knights but I had no idea they didn’t get them til castle age, dang.

@@michaeldemild6246 Only English and HRE have MAA on feudal. For some reason the English get them on the dark age, but rushing MAA on the dark age is not very feasible, so you're not likely to see them before Feudal. And a note: I play mostly as HRE and I do not recommend MAA alone to deal with archer aggression on the feudal age, specially against long bowman;. Even with high armor (3 points), the MAA is slower than archers and can be kited; Even doing 2 or 1 (or 3 on the longbow case) damage to the MAA, a mass of longbow men/ archers can clear out a MAA squad by focusing their fire (20 to 30 archers are already enough and very feasible to be done on the feudal age). I'd try to mix in archers of your own, or horsemen. I prefer archers as the other player will most likely have got some spear men for himself, but that goes on a game by game basis.
