Recon made units and sent vills to 3 out 5 relics to deny with walls. He then continued to capture all 3 sacred sites... he also had a ram push that against any other civ would of won him the game. Hre is B.O.B broken, overpowered and busted 💀

I like how for minutes straight Abbasid had map control and a huge spearman legion whereas beasty had like 3 knights and instead of shutting out beasty's gold he just hung out on the outskirts of beasty's base. There was only one gold pile accessible to Beasty after 13 mins in the video and Abbasid sent one spearman to attack that left flank then gave up on raiding it. After match: "So lame, your turtle was unbeatable!" My brother, you had a golden opportunity to shut him out and you barely missed it, which does happen to all of us.

Don't know what Recon is complaining about, he was into free boom 25mins with more eco and army and he stayed afk next to your base instead of closing the game, I don't get why he didn't push or just went imp himself before, abbassids (in PUP even more) have a huge eco lead if you let them boom. He did very well and after that he just get scared by your almost naked fast imp. He will sure get the point after the replay view :)

It’s a Starcraft thing. He used to play SC2, which is a lot more mechanically intensive than AOE4. AOE4 is a lot more chill of an RTS mechanics wise than other RTSs like Starcraft and the CnC games.

Kinda confused by a few things here. Of course high APM and keybindings are important, but it sounds like he's clicking and pressing things way more than what is equating to actual actions? What am I missing about this? Like right around the 5m mark he selects his scout a couple times and starts spam clicking a bunch of things that don't seem to correlate to actual actions. What's happening there? Also, on his units it looks like he's using control groups (i.e. select a group of units, press ctrl+a number to easily reselect) so it has the number above their heads, but then the UI doesn't show the groups. Is that something you can turn off? Or does that number correspond to something else? And like the town center has "0,4,5,6,7,8,9" on it. Is that just showing his custom bindings?

When there's multiple numbers that means hes assigned it to multiple groups so he can use any of those keys to select it. And yeah I think the UI not showing control groups is just a setting somewhere.

Extra clicks you hear are probably just things that dont actually do anything. like clicking the control group key for whatever is already selected so nothing happens. just to keep amp up. easier to stay high apm then to slow down and go back when you actually need it

Some/lots of players like to have high average apm over the course of the game. Early game there aren't as many units/buildings etc. so they keep reselecting or doing repeat movements that aren't necessary. Later when the same time frame is used to go between multiple buildings and unit groups the apm is spread across them more equally. So the average apm of the entire game doesn't drop from when there is less to control. Some players say it helps them as warming up the fingers/muscle memory. There is also something along the lines of 'effective' apm, which is basically not how many buttons are pressed in a minute but which of those actions were minimally necessary or so. Such as selecting your tc once at the 40 min mark in the middle of a battle to see if villagers are queued, vs selecting your tc 20 times at the 5 sec mark when everything in the build order is in place and the scout hasnt even left the initial fog of war

the repeated click on unit production key is just to ensure the production is queued without having to visually confirm it. personally i only do it when i am choked on res or housing and want the queuing to happen at the first possible millisecond. The fast switch between thing is to get into the rhythm of doing things fast. all in all, if you yourself try to play competitively, i expect you to do the same. you also need those fast reacting keyboard and mouse. can make a big diff there -- both in measured apm and in actually how you will see apm as physically meaningful like if your keyboard and mouse has the lowest speed allowed by usb 2. you literally click faster than the device samples your input and you wont really get the crisp actions in game.

​@@ChedsTrading Definitely. That said, as you play, you do learn where it is ok/helpful to overclick and where you should not. For example, if you are shift-queuing paths, you need to make sure you are not overclicking even once. That is because units pause at waypoints --- an artifact that seems unlikely to be fixed any time soon. For example, overclicking shift-queued scout path could get you less sheep or even have your scout killed if the waypoints happen to be just at opponent TC range. (The waypoint pause is also why the optimal thing to do is to have rough default routes via shift-queue -- so it never idles, but still micro your scout before they hit waypoints --- in contrast to shift-queue, direct right-click is instant. That sounds like frequent re-setting of default path but, in reality, humans click way faster for that to be a downside.)

if its grouped to more buttons he can use any of the buttons which means doesnt have to think about it as much when on high APM + sometimes its more convenient to click one over the other buttons if you are clicking a bunch of other hotkeys simulntaneously

there is camera save point. you can look it up in the keymap in game. however, what beasty did was just double-clicking the unit group number. that's all there is. it's not "previous" screen. it's the camera position of one of his unit groups.

maa counter spears too, and HRE has the best maa in the game. Recon countered maa with crossbows, which is why Beasty built mangonels and transitioned into horsemen. HRE has insane food eco with Aachen and spamming horsemen/maa to harass eco and burn down buildings is better than having an archer blob that relies on siege units to destroy buildings. Finally, archers are quite bad in the late game against everything but spears, they are not population efficient. You can see that Beasty has ~140 eco pop with only 60 military pop, so you want these units to be high-impact.

Faster the apm the better the player usually. He's checking things fast asf and building/micro managing fast asf and it takes a lot of clicks to do all that

it helps with muscle memory and other things to be able to handle the actual apm spikes when you have to multitask. Also i bet its kinda like a stress ball, keeps you focused and your body occupied.

1 you only want to queue up 1-2 units in each building so you cycle through them to check they are active but not over queued. Over queuing ties up resources. Secondly I think it’s adrenaline that makes the clicking. Like the first click is just fo in that general direction but second/third is more thought through. This is at least what I do.

You usually don't want to make ranged units as HRE, it's rare you are going to use them into the game, you have Men at Arms which do the job for you

i think it's because if you bind it to just one keybind, you'll be pressing only that keybind for the whole game and can make you blunder more. For example, the default bind is H, you bind your archer to 1 and you wanna switch to tc as fast as possible - you'll be optimally switching faster if you have another bind for your tc that is closer to 1 other than H.
