one thing i missed is the ability to see the whole map after the game ended. now sometimes the game ends because either you or the enemy surrenders and you havn't even seen most of the enemy base :(

Also they wouldn't have trouble telling what age each player is in if they had the scores on the side. They are looking in each players base to determine the age each player is in and that's wasted time that could be spent on focusing on something else.

you would have seen it if you would have played the beta before making your comment... it's a toggle-able option, they just didn't turn it on here. It's in the menu on the top left. You can also see age in the top right, but they didn't show it in this video likely because they will make some changes to the options so they didn't want to show them yet. But all of this is in the beta already....

I hear a lot of people don't like these graphics and that they don't look realistic or "next gen". And they are in their right to think so by all means as they are kinda right:) But I think these graphics does a fine job of keeping the vibrant, colourful style and feeling of AOE1 and especially AOE2 but still improving upon it and doing something fresh. Thats really what you want in a sequel like this. Something new that dont stray too far from the formula. Even if the game don't look photorealistic there is so much detail on display. I love it:D

- Indeed we all found it irritating, even though it wasn't there in closed Beta before. It appeared during this Open Access beta. I guess they were testing it. - You can't zoom out. They haven't enabled (or developed) high zoom out yet. Hope they add it later. - Mangonel was shooting at the building, but since it was halfway out of viewable camera port (for us, the viewers) it looked like it was shooting nothing. You can see if you pay attention that the shots went to the building.

Gameplay is great but I honestly think this games needs additional 4-5 months in development in order to get more polished and a few details added. Things like the UI, Hotkeys, general controls, overall clunkyness need some serious work done. I mean the game lacks features and details that have been present in previous games ( especially with DE ). For example not having a unit and tech production tab while playing is just not necessary considering AoE 2 DE has that feature. I would also appreciate little things like having a team operate the siege weapons or a little bit less extreme colours on units, better looking water etc. . From my feeling it also doesnt really feel well optimised considering the release next month and the developers always emphasizing on them aiming to have a wide range of systems the game is supposed to work on. As I said the gameplay is extremely fun but its the considerable amount of smaller things that need tweaking and work. Im still gonna buy it but I would appreciate a posponed release.

Its a nice game, nice graphics and the 1vs1 and 2vs2 are quite fun. Sadly the 3vs3 and 4vs4 Matches are unplayable since you can stack up to 30 and more Artillerie or just raid with the Firelancers, wich is btw more of a fantasy unit how its in the game atm ^^" I always wondered why there's no max number for the different Artillerie units. It would make the game so much more balanced and more historical =) But so far it's really nice work! Love the Age Games, Love the Nostalgy that comes with it!

It looks very fun to play, I'm happy we're getting a new entry in the series. My only complaint would be the visuals - I know, I know, the game's designed to be playable on as many setups as possible, that's understandable, but... Every single AoE title released thus far was a graphical stunner on release, a benchmark of sorts when it comes to the RTS genre. AoE4 looks just... OK. Neat, pleasant even, but kind of dated in many ways. Funnily enough, Company of Heroes 3 suffers from the exact same problem, when compared to CoH1 from 2006, the visual leap isn't what one would expect considering the 15-year gap. I guess RTS became such a niche, the developers aren't given the budget they need anymore.

In all honesty that match was just a show more than anything. Holy roman empire player could have close the game a few times especially if he had went after the sacred site when his opponent was heavily investing in keeps. Not speaking of the fact that a few palissade to soft lock the opponent and prevent raid would have done an amazing job.

Oh god no, I hate the short game lengths of Blizzard RTS. Also this match was on the longer side because both players were quite skilled, usually it'll get cut down to 15 minutes on lower skill matches if the stress test was anything to go by

I'm coming to age 4 from starcraft 2 and i just want to say that having a faster match is just not what age is about. The extra time spent building up your city and economy is one of the most fun parts of age when compared to starcraft. You build a connection with the city you are making and seeing come to life so you feel the urge to defend it naturally. Starcraft and warcraft are great but their main focus is very different and faster paced. We will have a great game with lower game length when frost giant comes out with their game.

I played a few games during the open beta. I found it to be less intuitive than AOE3. Teammates were all the same color - you can't differentiate. Lots of AOE2 elements, which isn't a bad thing.

Not a fan of the animations, especially the weapon swinging and axe swinging animations. In AOE II, the villagers swing their axes with vigor, beating the tree like it owes them money. In AOE IV, it looks like they're swinging their axes underwater.

This is the first time I stumbled upon this game and it looks great. Can someone tell me how it will all work after purchasing the game? They keep saying this is expensive and that is expensive. Does that mean in terms of real money or resources inside the game which can be gathered like gold, wood, etc? Do I have to keep spending more money to purchase resources, speed-ups, etc? Kinda like Lords Mobile? (the only strategy game I played so far) Where it took forever to reach a certain level for building/research and someone who spends lots of money can get things ready in days/weeks. So basically, what I want to ask is that does skills/strategy mostly matter or is it mostly pay to win type game.
