Age of Empires IV - The English

The English are a defensive powerhouse and resilient force on the battlefield, backed by a solid economy. Cheaper farms also increase food gathering rates, giving a boost to the economy early on. With early attacks, town centers fire more arrows than others and villagers can also fend off small raiding parties with bows and arrows. Military force gets bolstered by early access to Man at Arms units in the Feudal Age and the special Longbowmen cause more damage and fire at a longer range than regular archers. With special bonuses and excellent defenses, the English can defend their own territory like no other.

I think it's a little ironic that they're a defensive faction, considering that in the middle ages the English lost most of their defensive wars, but won most of their invasions.

Defensive in battle . In most of their famous victories they were defending a position , more often than not fortified

The English had a tendency to let their guard down once a place was conquered. They lost a lot of their French territory as you mentioned when forced to defend it; because chances are the good commanders and troops would be elsewhere. A lot of this was due to the English kings taking the treaties they had signed with the French as gospel, and the French regarding them as more a suggestion than anything else. But you gotta do what you gotta do after all.

Ironically its more like that in early/mid game if you have to deal with an early rush. If the enemy rush fails its a trickle of units to deal with.

SO MUCH THIS! but mister lead-something already confirmed they are doing something. i personally hope for something for AoMs 20's birthday but i sadly doubt it will be a full flashed out new titel like AoM2 (except they already started working on it) but i think it will be more of a... rework and then later there will be a AoM2. (i still hope for a AoM2 cause it would give the opportunity to not only look up to date but also feel up to date.

Please change your arrows and other projectiles, give them trails like in Age 3 or Stronghold and make them a bit slower, it looks very unnatural right now. Also siege projectiles lack any kind of collision effect as well. Blood (either with a DLC or not) would be appreciated as well, every Age had blood until 4.

We are still missing the Spanish, who always played a huge role in the history of the European continent. We're also mssing the Japanese, the Koreans and all meso civs. We'll have content for many years :)

Yeah. There seem to be a few historical inconsistencies with the game design in the flags and civ names (some are generic national names like ‘English’ and ‘Mongols’ while others are specific states like ‘Delhi Sultanate’ and ‘Abbasid Caliphate’) I personally prefer the more broad AOE2 name style (e.g. ‘Indians’, ‘Teutons’, ‘Chinese’) over specific state names
