AoM will be really interesting. I think you are right about retold in that there will be some changes and not a total exact copy with updated graphics and QoL features. Does anyone know if there would be a limitation to the game engine that it was launched on? Would they need to overhaul that a lot and as a result some of the original content had to be changed or removed?

They are using the same engine as AoE3 DE. "Retold" makes me think they will be changing the campaigns or the story up in a new way. Let's hope it lives up to the hype!

I really hope that Retold is not just a simple remaster, but a proper independent product - proper remake that reach modern standards in RTS, especially with UI and QOL features - just like AOE4 after all patches that it had.

I hope for the exact opposite. With the exception of some QoL features like AoE2 DE and AoE3 DE got, I want this game to be _as close as possible_ to the game that we're already familiar with, in the state it was in _before_ the Chinese expansion came out. No Greek healers, no Norse archers, but not reinventing the wheel in any big way.

@@JimCullenMy reasoning behind it looks like that: I have played AOM and OG AOE III a lot back in the days. Now when we have AOE4, I really can't play more than a 1 game per year in AOM extended or AOE III DE. AOE4 it's just far better RTS. So if Definitive Edition could not take me back to play AOE3 - then another Definitive edition of AOM this time, will not buy me to play it regularly few hours per day just like I play AOE4 today.
