Ease of play is honestly super important in tier lists. Like if you need close to perfect play to make a god viable against others, outside of those specialists, the god will never be the best choice.

Thing about Poseidon is: He doesnt have any ways to buff his Infantry or Archers. Especially in the early ages. Meanwhile Zeus and Hades can boost their main units while also buffing their back up (Athena Hoplites + Apolo ranged unites). His Cavarly has soooooooooo many counters while having 0 response to them.

Hmm, are you saying Ares upgrades are no good? Is the default that you should be picking Hermes as Posiedon? I think more often than not, Ares is the better Classical Age pick anyway. By Heroic Age, he can buff all 3 unit types.

@@EZog58 On paper you should be able to flex your minor gods depending on game and I do like Ares's upgrades (personally I love the triple upgrade for toxotes playing as Hades) but his god power isnt that good compared to Restoration or Cease Fire. Cyclops are very powerfull but too slow, Minotaurs or Centaurs are more impactful units due to higher mobility wich is a king stat in this game.

I think Oranos's Empyrian Speed unique tech upgrade should be a default passive tech and replaced with another small tech upgrade. Too much of his bonus feels tied into sky passages which as you say currently feel harder to get out in the early game.

Not a top player but I have to agree. Classical Egypt vs Norse is very rough for norse. I have to say Egypt is by far the hardest faction to play, but has the most potential, out of top play egypt does not do as well aside Ra due to it's difficulty, but a very well executed play feels like this guys are broken.

One thing that doesn't get mentioned as much about Isis Isis is the cheaper upgrades and obelisks (and built faster). Things like mummies and implode being strong are one thing but you do have to get there. You always take upgrades and build obelisks. It helps an already strong economy. Anecdotally my vision is always strongest playing Isis. 1 priest can do the work of 2 and costs less to blanket the map

As an Oranos main, I will say: Chaos has been over-nerfed Imperial Speed should grant all heroes bonus speed, bonus speed for infantry is good but it railroads you into infantry only, which is easily countered Sky Passages has been overnerfed, the increased favour cost is VERY restrictive. Wood cost is whatever

Yeah it seems devs struggle to balance out Oranos. It used to be an aggressive raiding civ with all human units enjoying a speed buff. As for sky passages, I think the issue is not so much about how many of them you can get but rather how much units you can transport at a time. They may want to define an age scaling for sky passage transport capacity then they would require more micro to be used efficiently.

As someone who mainly plays Oranos i have to say that you're spot on. Of all Atlantean gods he feels the weakest. Gaia is an economic powerhouse. Kronos is master of rushing the opponents early on. Oranos on the other hand doesn't have any luxury that would make him standout. Yes oracles gather more favour, yes sky passages are a nice thing to have but it just not good enough to make him be at the same table with Gaia and Kronos.

2 decades being a night of the living dead enjoyer, ra camelover and set barrack spammer, i love seeing egyptians at the top. Still didnt play multiplayer in retold, but i loved use set woth only barrack units. People tend to underestimate how good those trash units can be, expecuallly against norse (slingers could became an anti archer and anti infantry in one unit, so i would spam them with spears against cav heavy or axemen agaisnt infantry based armies)

Hi, are you going to do a video about Gorgons, the Hera myth unit? It is the same concept as the Mummy, people do not seem to talk much about them but they are really strong. They are both very strong ranged myth unit with good special ability but also have crush damage so they can act as siege units.

I've played Norse for 20 years and love Freyr lol. By definition he is defensive but nearly all his minor gods have offensive capabilities. The fact you have Gullinbursti to fall back on, allows you to go for a massive push (comparative to an all in offensive god who loses, then dies). You have the classical forest fire, flaming weapons and then Hel for a faster (Bragi's upgrade) moving Nidhogg who can wipe out 30 units in seconds through animation cancelling attacks. With early eco upgrades and cheaper techs you can get there faster than most gods. Even if you don't do that, the new game has chickens and berries in your base that gather at the same rate as hunt, as you said in another video, big action doesn't occur until 10 minutes+ most of the time. Honestly he feels slept on, since he's so new I really think we don't know his meta yet, or further changes to the game will tip him over the edge to becoming A tier. I am an old high level player (not streamer/tournament winning level) but 1900-2k by ESO/voobly standards. I have almost exclusively used him 😀

I was in Panama 2ish years ago and the internet was ok. I didn't play anything competitively while I was there. The internet sometimes would struggle to keep up with streaming services so I don't think it's super stable. Sometimes I had no issues with it at all, and other days it was a bit rough. Don't know if this helps in any way, but there you go.

Perhaps Ra empowering a monument should only give ~75% of the current empower bonus to other buildings in the range instead of what it gives now. That might bring Ra a little more in line with A tier instead of S tier.

That's ridiculous. That would put the empower rate at 0.525 which is much lower than it was originally when Ra was considered the worst god before all the buffs.

You said Isis is a lategame powerhouse because of Mummies, but is her lategame just carried by them? Like if you went Thoth instead, would you still say she has a very strong lategame? What do you think about reverting the Freyr's Blessing tech to its original form? (+25% HP for human units). Would that be too OP? If Freyr gets buffed, I'd love to see it by doubling-down on his theme, not making his playstyle more like the other Norse gods. Thank you for this tier list, too! It's always interesting to hear your insights into the high-level tournament meta as it shifts.

Magic , from what i have seen in tournaments, Greeks vs eggy is a little bit unfair rn , with Eggypts beign basically same raw power than greeks but reaching it faster with non stop powerspikes. They have the same fire power but eggy reach it in short time without major issues

I think it’s the fact Loki struggles to do early aggression against him since he can use gullinbursti, in the mid game I think tempest and rock giants are really good vs Norse, rock giants are really tanky and do really well in direct combat

Hey magic, can you please make a video on eco upgrades, and armour upgrades? Actuallly we can follow as many build orders we want but they wont work properly if we dont know when to take upgrades, i saw many pro games and alot of pros get upgrades very later in the game as compare to the noobs like who make take upgrades early on.

I think it’s not, the game is really fast paced right now and there’s a lack of strength in defensive fortifications, so if your opponent goes for an aggro god power and you go for a economic one, there’s a high chance you just die outright

What CiV is best to handle with low elo skills? Gaia seems easy to play but i struggle a lot against North and egypt, especially when they take a second tc early. But also without second tc, i feel like my army always loses with a north army. So with max 1300 Elo, what CIV do you expect the easiest to play ?

you should try Greek! they're pretty straight forward, Hades does really well at low levels since your defensive bonuses really help you vs early game aggro

The more I've played AoM (and other games in other regards) the more it dawned on Me tbat player skill is by far what makes something OP or not 🤔 OP players make everything look OP 😂 Just like OP players can play games like FPS or rhythm games with crappy, crappy hardware and still beat 99.5% of all other players 🤔 And that's been a big help to not get mad or even annoyed when losing games: it's 99.5% of the time a skill issue that needs a skill solution My point being, it's only with matched skill levels between opponents that the inherent strengths and weakness of different civs (or hardware in other games) really matter 🤔

Hetairoi is bottlenecked by the fact that its an Age 4 unit that can only be trained in a Fortress. Also it has like no hack armor so it takes more damage from anticav.

I'm not magic but it can be devastating against low hp units. Archer balls or cheap infantry masses like axemen or berserks/TA. Similar to forest fire you can really punish certain positioning. If terrain/buildings are in the way or you get a bit of a surround they have to choose between taking full damage from locusts or giving the other army free hits as they move away.

Yeah I noticed that too. There was spell where Posiedon was good around 2021 and this was a problem that had to be nerfed until he is one of the worst gods.

I'd give the speed buff to Hypaspist. Dont think would be broken. And I hope defensive buildings get a buff bc civs like Zeus, Hades and Ouranos have very slow army comps even if they have some speed buffs. These civs are supposed to be played low pace and fight in choke points.
