Really glad to see KO on the channel! This was a very fun bat rep for me, I really like both of these armies. So yeah, KO is a really weird technical army. I feel like their biggest weaknesses are the things you pointed out: no magic defense of really any kind, no wards, and an over-reliance on winning roll-offs. Their damage output is mostly in their shooting phase, so they get hit really hard by double-turns. I'm still learning the army myself, so I don't want to make it sound like I know any better than y'all (because I certainly don't), but I think the problem with this list was too many frigates. I think of the big transport vessels as less like big pieces of damage output and more like channels of damage output for other units. The Ironclad is what you use to load up 10 to 15 Thunderers and just snipe from 18" away. The Frigate is your battering ram. Load it up for 9 to 12 melee boys (I've found that an Admiral or two complimented by 6 to 9 Skywardens with pikes or Endrinriggers with saws works well) to Kool-Aid-Man themselves into melee. Use the 3D6 charge Footnote and the fly-high command to guarantee a key charge. But 2 Frigates and an Ironclad, with no Thunderers and no Skywardens, might not be the best use of the army. I've had fun with Barak-Zon, 9 Skywardens, an Admiral, and a Dirigible Endrinmaster in a Frigate. That sounds like something David would like (used it to delete a Megagargant in Round 1 once, which was VERY satisfying). And the other half of the list is 15 Thunderers with a Khemist (which turns out to be a LOT of shooting that can hurt REALLY badly with the free extra rend) and a Gunhauler or 2 complimented by some Endrinriggers for nabbing objectives or running support with the Frigate. Oh, and the 9 Skywardens are good for melee, but also for shooting whatever the Frigate charges into first; turns out a shooting profile for 27 attacks at 3s and 3s with -1 rend (plus possible buffs, like the Admiral's extra rend, All-Out Attack, etc.) ain't nothing to ignore. Also try 10 of 15 Thunderers (all rifles and the cannon; screw the other weapon profiles) in an Ironclad to just load up on shooting. I just think over half of this list was dedicated to big boats with bad melee and no support, which isn't ideal. The point of the Frigate is to unload a bunch of Strike-First melee. But they didn't capitalize on that at all in this game. Thank you for putting up with my obnoxiousness! I love you guys, and I love these armies, so here's hoping for more love for them in the future. Cheers!

All good points regarding list building, KO is still not a melee army and they play much better by trading and scoring late game. I hope you like the next KO report aaaaaannnnnddd I am working on edits for BcR vs Ironsunz right now! Steven Newberry came out to flex with his orks again and it was a ton of fun. @@BattleshockWargaming also don't overlook Grundstok Gunhaulers, they give a ward to the Ironclad. I'm also building a KO army and played several games, the fun stuff I do with Gunhaulers is to pack Thundrik in one (with a compartment upgrade) and then just fly him over somewhere where he can unleash his 3d6 shooting + choking fug to damage as much stuff as possible while his profiteers give him 5 or 6 up ward. Basically a specialist team that can hold enemy for an entire turn.

KO have some magic defense Maybe not enough to stop Teclis, Kroak, or Tzeentch -- but enough to stop a key spell from say SCE or DoK for a turn before removing key pieces With spell in a Bottle, they basically have been given +100 points to their list They can fit all of their best heroes in a single list, potentially multiple, while also having multiple bricks of 3+ save high ranged damage Thunderers (safely tucked into an Ironclad further boosting their defenses) Kharadron are in a very good place right now

I have been having decent success with a Barak Zon, warden army with 2 frigates. I really like Master the Skies artycle, but I have found That "Settle the Grudges" is the best one, That +1 to wound against a single unit is vital, for taking out what you need to kill turn 1. In this battle, for example, if you pick the concussors you would have definetly taken them out in a single round of shooting, and the game may have been different. I also like the Celestium Burst Grenade to either pile on my Grudged target or to take down a different target in round 2.

not a bad first shot at piloting the KO ! it reminded me a lot of my own first game of KO. They are a VERY tricky army to get use to. KO is a late game army 100%, putting the ironclad out there like a dangling carrot wasn't very advisable. The list itself was great, but IMO you should have used fly high ALOT more. KO are about superior mobility and firepower. Use that mobility and ideally, spread your boats out and create a shooting gallery in a central position between the 3 of them to focus fire anything into oblivion. the bomblets was a great choice ! always toss it at whatever is the biggest threat! For objectives, fly high is your best friend. Early game focus on wiping units, points are for turn 3, 4, & 5. scoring the extra point for his home objective the last 3 rounds could have made up for any low scoring early rounds. obviously all of this comes down to the dice and its easier said then done. overall it was a great battle report, can't wait to see the KO fleet in action again

As a new KO player I got to rep the KO to win! That being said; you only get the Admiral's Flagship rule if the Admiral themself is your general, so having the Endrinmaster as your general precents that. At least said Endrinmaster doesn't need to be your general to make Riggers battleline anymore.

Balloon boys are better off focusing on melee and going in a frigate. If you charge a frigate with 9 balloons inside, all 9 can fight from within for 19 saw attacks. this should see off the concussors much better than 1 round of shooting and 2 saws + 2 gun butts. You need a screen to protect your boats. a unit of arkanauts or 3 balloons in front of your ironclad would have prevented it from getting rolled immediately, allowing you to counter punch much harder as you lost a quarter of you army very easily. Use boat shooting for lightly armored units, use thunderers or balloon boys for dealing with armored units (khemist admiral rend is MUCH better on thunderers, but obviously is OK on balloon boys). Saws are almost always better as they give balloons rend 2 in combat and shooting.. With saws balloon boys ALMOST hit as hard in melee as fulminators. Main problem with this list is too many boats without enough infantry. KO boats do not output much damage but provide mobility to infantry. KO infantry do all the damage - thunderers shooting (with a bit of melee via fumigator mortals) and balloon boys melee (plus a bit of shooting). Arkanauts are OK but outperformed by thunderers and balloons in every way.

Awesome batrep. When do you actually use Sequitors in your army? This is the 1st time I see a Sequitors in an SCE army.

Sequitors are good for 5+ ward in certain situations and actually have some fair damage output. The 4 up armor save is a minus, but they still have play!

I have been using Barack zon with 2 390 point skywardens, a frigate, drekki flynt, brokk grundson, endrinmaster with endrinharness, aetheric navigator, codewrite, and a gunhauler, with a warlord battalion and 2 vanguard with the wardens. With the 4+ rally I got a ton of value with the wardens and won both games Ive played with this list against tzeentch and soulblight also aetheric navigator is very good for the point cost.

KO bring 15 Thunderers full load out in an ironclad with a khemist and admiral. It is a shredder. Put a Endrinriggers in a Frigate. Also use heroic willpower for one dispell a turn or bring a Navigator for another. If you are investing in 3 ship a gunhauler makes a nice screen and gives the big boats a ward.

Well that was a fun one there! I'm always glad to see Krondys do well, but KO was fun to watch here. I know nothing about them but the only thing I can thing of doing different was maybe use the artifact on Krondys. Even if he doesn't die doing some good damage on him may have been worth it. Either way it was a good first game I think and a few more games will get you used to the rules. Good game to both of y'all!

I'm not sure what the other factions are like to paint, but as I have been working slowly for 8 months on my KO, they feel incredibly difficult, complicated, and intricate. The Arkanaut Companies in particular are, in my opinion, too detailed for their own good. Too much equipment and stuff on their models, and they come in groups of ten. I have to be cheering for my own faction here, even if I feel like they aren't going to win with this particular list. Arkanaut Admiral is the go-to General because they issue a Command to a single Skyvessel for free once per turn(ONLY if they are the General; you said the Endrinmaster in Dirigible Suit is the General here), and they are the only Hero that can issue Fly High, Disengage, and Combat Landing(Except the aircraft themselves). I could say more, but I won't. It pains me to watch these factions, who are near and dear to my heart, slaughter each other, but I shall soldier on. Let's see who wins. Yeah, pretty much happened as I predicted. Good match, gentlemen. Glad to see the Duardin entering the fray! :D

Large units are a pain for KO, because if the unit survives, you can bring back quite a few models. Low drops to guarantee turn order is also very helpful, because you don't want them to shoot you twice. Huddle up on the objectives and let them come to you to score. Teleportation is less useful when they cant teleport onto objectives. Hope that helps :)
