Deep thinker auto cast on a 9 not an 8 ! Deep Thinkers: The Scinari are renowned across the realms for their profound knowledge and thoughtful deliberation. Once per battle, in your hero phase, when this unit attempts to cast its first spell in that phase; it is automatically cast with a casting roll of 9 that cannot be modified (do not roll 2D6), but it can be unbound.

Correct ;) Lucky for Jarod, I did very little damage with my double turn anyway, as he should have got total eclipse and protection of hysh off. He realized that after battle round 1, I even asked him if it was a 9 and he said no lol

My first game ever was against LRL, and I lost because I literally just had 2000 points of KO models without any synergies versus a tournament level Tecliss+Wardens+Sentinels list. My second game was against Soulblight, and I had a better last than when I fought the Hyshian Elves, but she played remarkably well and took the victory. So I'm cheering for Soulblight because I just happen to really hate Elves. This'll be a good fight! I don't think I've ever seen a match where Dave's wards aren't out of this world and I'm glad against the high MW output of the Elves, his rolls were still on point for this. This is just some good, honest AOS. Magic-on-top energy versus regenerating hordes of vampires and undead did not disappoint. I'm glad the Elves lost- I mean, glad undeath took this victory. :D Good game, gentlemen.

They are a strong, high damage, control/scalpel army and are way more defensive than people think. I also feel they are a tough match up regardless of what army I bring into them.

Nice work from Lumineth player I've learned some fun ideas, I play similar lists and it's good to see it hold its own against a strong list mainly through strong positioning and target choice! I was surprised Eltharion didn't stick with the twins to finish off the skelies the 'triplets' would definitely have wrecked them. I'm curious how the twins would fair with lauchon boat to get them zipping around the board.

Attempting to math my turns out on the fly didn’t pay off. I had two late game options in mind for tactics. Hysh made manifest and gaining momentum. I had hoped bladelords/ballista/spears could take the blue dragon down. (I missed it by about 3 wounds. David’s 6 wards were fire all game.) When that failed, it slapped my flank, and it healed a ton I had to make some tough calls. Prayed that elania and Elathor could clear skeletons alone and eltharion could reach blue dragon on a double. Failed both gambles. David’s an exceptional player, what you miss off camera is how hard I had to think about making that move. ;)

@@jarodbrown4715 yeah your ballistas rolled a ton of 1s especially early game, that’s just dice I guess. Definitely going to try out rune of senthoi especially with a enlightener for two massive unbind. And I’m now motivated to try out Eltharion again. Just feel he needs the ward as I’ve lost him to mortals too often, but he sure slaps!

Great battle report! I have one noob question for you. Ellania and Elathor have +1 to cast on their scroll. Why doesn't it stack with Zaitrec for +2 to cast?

This was the one and only time I was able to beat Jarod and his Lumineth Realmlords list lol! For your question, this does stack, so Ellania and Elathor should have been +2 to cast. Thanks for watching our videos!!

Is it possible to start putting the lists in the description? I'm a new player and trying to find lists is an enormous pain, but having lists to go with the battles (that you guys do really well!) would be extremely helpful.

Lumineth are fun to play against, because they are very defensive and swiss army style faction. I always feel like I get my ass kicked against them, even if I win lol. thanks for watching :)

So, with the SBGL FAQ and in particular the doomed minions "clarification", is the VLoZD back on the shelf collecting dust???

So, the legion of blood is still very strong, particularly because they did not Nerf the "bloodthirsty" ability or "The Hunger". VLOZD will always make lists in Legion of Blood, especially in this season because it is a fantastic combat monster. You just dont get to hit on 2s with the maw and the sword like talons anymore. From my experience playing around 8 matches and a tournament with them, a smart player will just screen the general away from the units picked to be doomed minions. Note in this battle that my target was the Bladelords and I didn't use the ability once, or Neferata's spell, or her redeploy pre battle ability and the army still functioned very well :)

@@WinnerDave99 the problem with making a hitty character strike last is that you can't heal their damage. I've been looking at a vengorian lord with doomed minions because it doesn't have a mount it works for all of their attacks.

@@BattleshockWargaming I honestly don't think this is going to be the case. Paying 440 points for a VLoZD where most attacks hit on 4+ isn't all that. And while it sounds like a lot 16 wounds is pretty easy to deal for some armies, especially with mortals floating about. I think the dragon is good, but it will deffo not make it into every list imho, depending on the meta and currently Khorne are abundant and the VLoZD don't much like them :) Just my 2 cents

That was a good fight. Id love to see legion of blood or ossiarchs versus sylvaneth or a dracolitg calvary army. Wanna see how my factions fare versus the hot stuff of the season. Some more seraphon would also be cool.

Glad you enjoyed the content :) since filming this we have updated our cameras to Sony megapixels. The dice rolls are quite clear now. If viewing from a cell phone or tablet, it can be difficult. Correct me if im wrong, but safe roles cannot be modifed by more than +1, no? Around 23:20 LRL used both an AQ and AOD to gain +2 to save, but thats against the rules right? Core rules 13.3

Save rolls can stack, but only work to reduce rend. So a model with base 3+save with finest hour, mystic shield and all out defense can ignore up to -2 rend and still have their 2+ save. A model with a 4+ save can never roll better than 3+ regardless of plus to save ;) hope that helps :)

@@BattleshockWargaming ah okay, so the best you can get out of your plus to saves will always be only +1, so a save +3 becomes +2, +4 becomes +3 etc. But by adding more saves, AQ/AOD/FH/MS, you can counter potential rend, and if there is no rend, you just "wasted" the extra bonus to saves, as your save can only be 1 better max than normal?

Question about using magic: it looks like you guys choose which spells you want to cast in the moment, but aren't you supposed to choose before the battle starts when building your army?

Depends on the character and type of spell. Some wizards know more than one spell, some wizards know all of the spells. If you have endless spells in your list any of your wizards can cast them.

@@ungabungacaveman9021 Thanks, that makes sense! So you do determine beforehand per wizard which spells he/she has, but always has the ability to cast the endless spell because those aren't "chosen" for a wizard, but rather for the army.

Also pretty much every wizard has warscroll spell and mystic shield/arcane bolt always option. There can be obvious choices but wizards always have multiple spells to choose from

In the turn 3 combat I think you missed Neferatas-1 to hit bubble and also terror on the lone survivor from the Calvary unit.

Good catch Luke! Bladelord perfect strikes are not affected by modifiers along with the mortals dealt by the spears. So it may have had a similar outcome. The terror is also an excellent catch. If David remembered that I likely would have switched my Auto-Pass and indomitable around to compensate.

As a heads up, the double cast for the Enlightener has to be on her first cast of hero phase - so if you deep thinkers one spell, you can't double-cast the second one.
