Great guide! This game was sorely missing a tutorial, but you filled the void. Go you!

All games with this kind of depth never seem to have suitable tutorials so I knew before it even launched this would be needed. I thank you for your compliments, it means a lot!

Just picked this game up in the Steam sale. Thanks for the vid! I also recently bought Fallen Enchantress and Endless Legend which I recommend. I have a feeling AoW3 may become my favourite though.

Thanks so much again for the kind words and support! When I begin my weekly recap of new series I was thinking about doing a spotlight segment to help give back. I love that and wish I could do it more often so i think that will help. I seriously look forward to each of your doses lol

Fantastic video :D The one thing that feels weird for me atm is the manual/tactical combat. Perhaps it's just me, but I love the macro or big picture game, and when it jumps into the combat field, my train of thought along with the exciting momentum of progressing my empire just seems to be lost. I want to like the combat but I have no idea how it works, and atm I wouldn't mind simple combat where the armies collide and fight on the hex map. Anywho thanks for the guide, keep up the good work!
@Hylorchannel8 жыл бұрын
+Vor Invictus thank you sir! I will be having more guides coming out about the combat very soon. In the mean time make good use of the pause button on the top right. That way you can think out your attacks and moves more like a turn based game.

i normally build a store house after builders workshop so i can grow my borders, if your playing warlord dont use raise milita for scouts early game the pop decrease is not worth it, after you have a siege workshop and storage make shore to build a shrine, lastly prioritize buildings mostly early game (in smaller citys in general really)

Do you recommend a beginner start with the campaign, or going this route and just picking a leader? I started with the Elven campaign, but watching your vid makes me think this would have been much easier. I've already started the campaign over a few times cause it just seems to rush you through too quick before you know what you're doing.

Also when your leader is dead they may not cast spells. May seem like it goes without saying, but it sure is important.

Interesting how you focus on production - another guide I watched recently argued that gold is the most important resource, and to focus early on Housing to boost growth in your city then prioritize gold generation through Merchandise. Basically the gist of the argument was while production speeds things up, without gold to purchase you won't be able to build anything anyway. Production is basically a "soft cap", but gold is a "hard cap", if that makes sense. Was wondering if you think this strategy is valid - you seem pretty knowledgeable and I'm a genuine noob to this game seeking guidance.

I am getting my butt kicked in this game... Am I just waiting too long to attack other kingdoms, do I end up fighting two kingdoms at once needlessly, I mean GEEZ man, I'm on the easiest difficulty and I can't even take over a freaking kingdom!!!
@xarmchia77503 жыл бұрын
The longer you wait the harder it gets definitely. I’m also a noob so I’m just playing campaign, but imo abusing spells and taking favourable trades using ranged units (triple attack) and melee units to tank(defend ability) works too. As a noob, the longer the game goes on, the more the AI gets strong casters and weird things you will need more experience to counter! So try fighting earlier maybe.

So, yea... I started watching this, and while I did get what you were saying for the most part, you skimped over some things really quickly that I still had many more questions about. Then I realized... Why the hell are YOU explaining this to us? The game doesn't have a tutorial to explain these basics? Yea, not about to buy and start playing a game that is this complex and doesn't even attempt to teach you how to play.

Yeah the production reaource is the amount of gold or mana you can convert to actual production each turn. I think of it as production is the size of the gas tank, gold/mana is the gas
