I see peace, love, unity and sufficiency in this Island. They have a strong connections to nature the reasons why it has move on from generations to generations. Preservation of family culture and the island as well by not selling or disposing it to foreigners is a wise decision. Long live Ikaria of Greece!

'Sense of family' is what's missing in most of the western countries. Tell me I'm wrong. That's why so many people end up being lonely and depressed. As humans, we thrive in communities. In India, I know many people who live within the 0.5 miles radius. If anybody needs help urgently and there's no family member around, there are always neighbours to help you out, always. In the UK, you call the police or ambulance first.

You are SO RIGHT! Here in America most people don't even know their neighbors. There is no "village" anymore. I grew up in a small coastal town, now live in another town few miles away that has less than 10,000 residents, but still there is no community. It also seems the younger people are so lost and have very little sense of purpose.

And the truth is - although I don't admit it often, here I am thinking about making money so that I can buy (not mortgage) a house. No wonder both my grandparents lived for 93 and 95 yrs. A lot for me to learn from. Their perspective on LIFE was different. We carry too may expectations and burden ourselves. Processed food, radiation and stress is what's causing diseases and killing us, nothing else.

Ikaria in 2024 is way different and once the old generation dies, the young ones will turn it into Mykonos or Santorini and sell land for easy money. It's already showing signs ... 3.50 euros of a ice coffee with milk, 4 euros for a baguette, beer for 4 or 5 eurosm etc etc. In 10 years I believe it will be another ruined Island, hope not. I've lived there for 3 months and seen and felt it a lot. This docu and what actually happens is not exact and I truly am sorry about it. Also a lot of fakers even locals, and escpecially the rich wanna-be hippies from mainland greece and Athens. They say one thing and do another. Once they see a tourist they grab the opportunity to make money and rob them. A coffee for a local is 1 euro but for a tourist is 3 euros. WHY???!!! A simple boat trip on a scrappy boat costs 100 euros per person. The young ones are over-promoting it on Instagram and FB to attract tourists and will ruin it rest assured. WTF! Having said that, it is still an amazing island. I went with an open heart before and left there disapponited in a way. Besides, no-one so far mentioned that big part of longevity on Ikaria is not only the way of life but the sea of ikaria is rich in Uranium (thats why they have conflics with Turks) and also the land is radioactive which is very very healthy. No-one mentions that and its the key secret.
