Age Verification Laws in Texas result in blocked websites

Texas recently passed the bill requiring age verification before accessing adult materials online. The crazy part is that you have to verify with your driver's license and a third party company. We're just one of many states that have passed these type of age verification laws which resulted in most major adult entertainment sites blocking the state of Texas entirely. I believe that this is an egregious violation of my first amendment rights, right to privacy, and very costly to the state. In today's video we're going to talk about age verification laws, privacy, obscenity, the history of adult materials, criminalization of homosexuality, and a little conversation with my wife.

I think the biggest problem is not why they did it, it is how they did it. There is no normal human being that is okay with kids having easy access to adult content. The way they did it is the problem. Data collection is getting absurd to the point that requiring ID to access adult content feels intrusive to one’s privacy.

It is a sure shame about the bans, and even more so what deeper reasons some peeps may have for wanting people to verify to watch it too, a little concerning and I don't think it's worth people doing that but instead just find alternative sites and sources. As for pornography in a relationship, it definitely can be fun to explore and healthy in some cases, as long as neither is addicted or lets it affect the relationship. Me and my BF certainly partake in the enjoyment of such things and usually share it with each other too, but more so as we appreciate the art of it (when it comes to actual artwork/drawings). Porn addiction is probably rather common in younger peeps, and definitely creates unrealistic expectations not just for sex, but for how people should look in general. Too many times I see people mock the appearance of a very average or even attractive person because their standards come from adult models and porn, it's rather annoying tbh.

1) VPNs exist, those should circumvent a lot of the blocks 2) Access to adult material is already restricted to adults at any store, via the practice of checking ID for alcohol and other controlled substances. 3) It's not the government blocking access to these sites--its the sites themselves blocking access because they do not wish to bother trying, I guess. Again, government didn't ban these sites, the site's reaction to legislation blocked access. 4) Now you too know how it feels to be restricted to your rights thanks to Soccer Moms.

As somebody who grew up becoming addicted to pornography at a very young age, about 13, I really wish there was something that would have stopped me from getting to that point.
