Aged Oud Vs Fresh Oud Oil

What is the difference between fresh Oud and aged Oud? Here we compare 2 Trat ouds from the same farm. One is fresh, the other has been aged for 5 years. The trick in ageing Oud is to keep it in a bottle that is at 70% capacity. Every month leave the cap open for the Oud to breath. This method gives the Oud enough oxygen to age properly. Oud is an oil distilled from the resin from Aquilaria species tree found in Asia. The resin is formed either in the wild by natural cuts in the wood made by bugs or managed by man in farms using various techniques. The resin is a result of the tree protecting itself from fungus attack. Oud is very expensive to produce and commands a high price!

i just got a 2023 wild marauke BECAUSE its so young (mesOUD). its already got such a powerul and wonderful smokey profile unlike some of the fruitier ones i have like a 2019 Vietnamese classic (RisingPhoenix) the vietnam was aged into perfection, whereas the new batch is wild harvest so its already going to be complex

Yes I have a few. Oils are always being added and also they can disappear fast. Many are small scale distillations. This particular oil is Trad. You will find it in stock right now

It’s okay, it’s nothing special but when it’s older there are more nuances and more of a layered scent Where the new oil is more one-dimensional

But truly they are not from the same source. So naturally some trees are more viscous than others. I have a 20 year old combodian that is still runny the day I bought it. Its great quality just not viscous. Not sure how your getting these theories. Are you new to oud? Seems like your first video on oud was just 3 years ago.

Yeah, I’ve been into Oud for around that time, Agarwood for nearly 10 years. picked up this knowledge from a thai distributor. Sure some oils don’t change much, like Malino. Maybe I was talking a bit to general in the video
