This exact scam happened to me last month. I called a PC Specialist and they said to Not Call that Number At All. Push the power button down until it is Completely Shut Off. Takes a few seconds, very important. And it's done.

That happened to me years ago where I couldn't operate my computer. The message blocked me and said call the number from Microsoft. Instead I said hold on a minute and called Microsoft because I had the real number in my contacts. They said she never called me and would never do that to my computer and to turn it off and and turn it back on. I unplugged it and plugged it back after a minute. That disconnected the scammers and put my computer screen back the way it was.

Such people came into existence due to two main companies - iYogi and QResolve. I have worked for both of them in the tech support team. The sales staff used to lie and deceive the US, Canada and UK customers like crazy. We objected many times to this. Raman Roy...the director of QResolve later became the head of NASSCOM too which is a misery. The iYogi directors were Vishal Dhar and Uday Challu who left India and did not pay salaries to many staff members in the last days of iYogi were protected by some UPA leaders.

Hey bro, there is one call centre based in dehradun, India. They provide technical support to all antivirus proudcts users so whenever someone from US or CAD call real McAfee, Norton the call gets diverted to them and then they pitch to sell their offers and also do the same and show all those files to put fear and manipulate them. They use PC magic USA INC name or different names. But the thing is there is no camera on any of their computers they operate from.
