AGGROS "CITY KIDS"

Parris Mayhew’s new band AGGROS are back with another crushing hardcore/metal epic song and video called, “City Kids”, the highly anticipated follow up to their debut song “Chaos Magic”.
“City Kids” is a landscape of a song, constructed from a conspiracy of Parris’ diverse musical influences. For this song those were primarily BLACK FLAG and RUSH.
Peppered throughout the video is something specially created just for “City Kids”, three custom-made NFTs. We collaborated with NFTY Skateboards Oli Kentner & Paul Muresan at www.nfty-skateboards.com to make three AGGROS skateboard NFTs which are showcased in LED advert panels throughout the video and were projected on buildings in NYC by SCENESTER PROJECTS previewing a line of AGGROS skateboards to come, using original artwork from UK artist Andrew Sawyers and NYHC’s #1 artist Sean Taggart. The three NFTs will be available for auction on OpenSea and proceeds from the sale will benefit The Skatepark Project, a non-profit organization founded by Tony Hawk, working to increase access to outdoor recreation and free play in underserved communities through safe and inclusive skateparks.

Absolutely floored. All the greatest classic NYC heavy rock influences from Kiss, Riot, Bad Brains, Carnivore, driven by the Motorhead, Priest, Sabbath, Black Flag foundation. Damn well seamless, too. Tempo, mood and dynamics compliment each other flawlessly. Added bonus: Now I know who did the camerawork and cinematography on Gotham. Not coincidentally the greatest visuals of NYC since Taxi Driver.

All the above with some late 80's - early 90's esthetic Crossover, blend with a little bit of Rush too. I'm amazed also that you made a reference to Gotham. When i saw the video a couple times, before i read the comments of course, the first thing that came to my mind was "This could be Gotham City". Also noticed the "SpaceAce" T-Shirt.

I admit I was never a huge Cro-Mags fan…they were just before my time…although for whatever reason I was into Agnostic Front in a big way. It really came down to whatever I could get cassettes of from my friends…so a lot of whatever they listened to, I absorbed. I grew up in TX, and the only link to NY hardcore I had was a friend’s older brother, who lived in NYC and would advise him on bands to check out. No Internet at the time, so everything I listened to was basically word of mouth. Anyhow, I’ve been a big fan of punk, hardcore, metal, rock and roll pretty much my entire life. My Dad introduced me to blues-based rock and roll when I was a child. My first musical memory was listening to The Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl. So..to my point…loving this…man I’m digging everything about this. And I have to admit one of the things I perhaps like the most is that, at least so far, there seems to be soooo much less ego to accompany Aggros’ output than with Mr. Mayhew’s former band mates. I don’t mind some ego to a degree when it comes to artists/musicians, but when it starts to overshadow the music itself, I feel like it becomes a bit trying. My main concern is the music itself, not whatever legal battle they have going on or whatever. Just saying. All that said, these tunes (and the accompanying videos, for that matter) are super rad (yes, I said “rad”) so thank you Mr. Mayhew!
