could I apply this covering of buttons and button joints to needle felted toys, animals etc ? I would love to see how

You can cover any button this way, but there are some considerations, the main one being choking hazards for usable toys. If you are only making display objects, then anything goes. Another is that cloth can add bulk to the back of the button, so if your items are small, use lightweight cottons. The stringing process is super simple. Just use a strong thread (I highly recommend waxed linen) and make one loop through the body and buttons. I tie a square knot on top of one of the buttons and then cover the buttons with cloth. You could cover the buttons first then string the joint, but to keep everything neat, you would have to tie the knot between the body and button. This is tricky, especially with tiny things, but practice makes perfect. The great thing is that it won't show, so no-one will ever know. Here's a link to my old blog that has a simple diagram of the stringing. Hope that helps! agosiaarts.blogspot.com/2010/08/basics.html

Thank you that is a great help, my felted pieces are not toys and pretty much just for show. I had been wondering how to make movable limbs on felted pieces for a while so tyvm :-) xx
