I do understand very well, with excitement every single person visit India. When I travel to see different places around the world I love to see places where I can enjoy the food the culture and cherish the moments year after. I am a proud Indian from Assam, jorhat, and every time I am back to India my first landing is New Delhi or sometimes Kolkata and I feel depresse by over all development and I wonder and question myself why why why ..... India's tourism sector is evolving, but it faces significant challenges in attracting international visitors. Concerns include poor street cleanliness, high noise pollution, in small towns or big city's all over India chaotic traffic conditions, which can deter tourists. Despite India's strengths in producing skilled professionals like doctors and engineers, these infrastructural issues need urgent attention to enhance the overall visitor experience. The government is investing in tourism development, yet a comprehensive strategy addressing these challenges is crucial for India to fully realize its potential as a global tourist destination .Lots to be said but corruption and disobedience, no respects for own mother land is the inner truth which is ignorance ........ As an Indian, I wouldn't recommend any foreigners to visit the golden triangle route (Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, Jaipur). Also, Taj Mahal is overrated. India has much better monuments than Taj Mahal. Best places to visit India are: Kerala, Goa, Puducherry, Dharamshala, Ladakh, Shillong, Coorg, Gangtok, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, etc.

I 100% agree on your stand against people trying to scam or overcharge tourists. Its never ok. A tip like you suggested is more then fine and shows your gratitude. When i travel, i spend way too much time on this topic online. I just came from Istanbul and learned quickly that all taxi drivers will double charge you as long as you are not turkish or turkish speaking. So I only used public transportation there

Always travel through ride sharing apps (like Uber)!! You can even get auto rickshaws on those apps. You don’t have to bargain or anything, get rates upfront and even get discount coupons for new cities. I work out Uber, Lyft and metro apps for each city of US, and am pretty sure would be overcharged if I just randomly came across a taxi. I guess travellers to India can do that too.

Yes! This is great advice. What I would do, is even if I wasn't actually calling a rickshaw on the Uber app, I would still check the price so I knew what amount was broadly considered "fair". I think it's useful! 🙏🏻

Yeah, it happens in all tourist places around the world. Consider, that some people are living on 300 rupees a day. Also, consider that things are quite cheap overall, your dollar, goes quite a bit. I also had this same exact feeling, it pissed me off, and I had a meltdown. But after seeing this is how things are, I got used to it. Now wait till you get used to the "foreigners" fee for entering certain places. Anyway, the food... unmatched!

Oh definitely! I've experienced it in many countries around the world to varying degrees. I think they're just so good at connecting with tourists in India and making your their friend, that it hurts a little more when they're trying to take advantage. But YES the food 😂🙏🏻

Brother I'm an Indian and visited Agra just last week I too noticed this thing they are not just taking advantage of foreigners but from Indians too it's just in there nature,u have to be vary careful in places like that.My story about cameraman and tuk tuk is quite similar to yours, camera man said he would click our photos just for 70 rupees and then he asked me 770 rupees I was completely shocked 😂 it's like their business strategy same goes for tuk tuk drivers. In India if you visit any place for that matter always bargain and never let them believe that you are visiting this place for the first time even we Indians do follow this rule for visiting new places in our country 😂

An Indian here. Firstly Americans think they know everything but people especially scammers are very smart. There goes your pride. Always remember to ask the locals. Talk to them, Indians will always go out of their way to help you. And you did the right thing by not paying them what they asked for. Doing that will only encourage them further. It doesn't matter it's just a "few dollars". I earn in USD too but I do not overpay here in India. It is stupidity. Pay honest people like Lala. Tip them. That's fine.

Dude forget about foreigners or indian themselves. I live in agra and one day i took my friends to taj mahal, the tuk tuk guy was charging real crazy, until he got to know he made a mistake😂. The 2 key tourist spots like taj mahal and agra fort are connected via subway. I recommend you to use that.

I'm willing to tip, but i don't like being scammed. When i moved to a new city, this grocery store outside my house was charging 2 rupees more for a packet of milk and 5 rupees more for any cold beverages. I could have just paid them the extra money and not cared about it, but for some reason i had a very mild argument and bought the items that day, but decided I'd rather walk 300 meter and get those items from another shop that sold them for the right price. This continued for 4 months, but then i started going to the nearby shop again and I've come to terms with overpaying.

India is full of wondrous treasures but it can be extremely frustrating and upsetting to visit India. From the moment you step off the plane until you step on the plane again to leave, the touts and scammers are everywhere. But as you saw, the Taj is jaw-droppingly awesome and is totally worth putting up with the scammers to see. And a 1000 rupees is, what, $10? $12 US? It's just not worth ruining your day over. Go to Egypt and see the pyramids. They will blow your mind, while the scammers will make you madder than hell, unless you go mentally prepared.

I actually have had a visit booked to Egypt at one point that I cancelled due to hearing about some of the things that happen over there, especially to people making travel content. 1) I think he asked 1200 for 12 photos of hard copies, you should have told him I just want soft copies sent to my phone,whatever you do you should negotiate 1st then you should take service . 2) the auto guys ask more normal* 2 in the morning before 7 o clock in the night after 10 o clock you should negotiate 1st 3) there are lot of uber ,ola kind of apps you should use those for traveling you will get tuk tuk,taxi everything in that ,you will get for fair price.

I used Uber in India all the time, especially for longer distances, which is actually a great tip I'll mention in upcoming videos as a way to gauge a fair price

15 years ago, Indians also faced problems with negotiating prices with tuk tuks. Once India started to become more digitized, we improved in this aspect. The payment system, UPI, is considered the best in the world. Just a mobile number, UPI ID, or QR scan code is enough to send and receive money. Unfortunately, visiting foreigners cannot use this technology, posing a problem for them.

India has always been a money deprived country when it comes to per capita income, esp in the lower segment of the society, such as auto/can drivers and others. I cannot blame them because for them it's a once in a blue moon opportunity to earn a bonus income and intrinsically are motivated to earn more money. But at what cost? Lying & deception only works to some extent but erodes trust and reputation. Being an Indian, I feel sad but still believe India has a lot to work on. Till that happens, tourists should be aware of the reality and enjoy the beautiful things here without getting scammed.
