After you showed the gameplay and before the review started, I wrote: "A game that seems very heavy for the sake of being very heavy, rather than having extra features that actually add to the game." So your Negative#2 wasn't surprising, although you weren't quite as harsh as that. Best game reviewer on KZbin by a long shot, thanks, Jon!

Nice review as always. Really enjoyed Agra with 2 player too, yes you get less favour (I think Mike is creating a variant with for 2 player which makes it even better, don't think he has announced it officially yet). But even without the favours from bumping you can still do so many things. However, there is one aspect of 2 player that might occur is running out of workers. But I played with Mike's Guard variant and that was solved immediately.

What are the details on the "Guard Variant"?

Regarding Neutral 2, I definitely think that was groupthink on your part. In my games, the limit is tested on at least one guild every time, sometimes two guilds. I'm usually first or second on influence, but only have 1-2 Guild Orders completed. It seems very hard to do both influence and contract fulfillment. And the winner has always been the one who does the orders not the notables, so there is that as well. Regarding variability, you know that the difference between colors can only be a max of 1 right? So with 10 cards in a 2-3P game, you're going to have 3/3/4 as far as colors go, so not really a immense difference if green gets the 4th card.

I hadn't noticed that part of the setup unfortunately, I'll keep it in mind for future games.

This is in my top 3 games of all time. Still concerned about the English Trader --- we leave him out as he's TOOOOO powerful!

Interesting, I honestly don't think I've seen that card be used in the games I've played and it certainly does seem powerful. Now I'm looking forward to giving it a try :)

Wow this thing is a bear to learn or teach but very engaging. The game comes with extra, but you're limited to 10 workers and 22 cylinders. It looked like you where using them all. I wonder if only paying 1 vp to reuse a worker space would improve the two player game?

Good catch, I didn't actually notice the 10 worker limit. I doubt this would have ever affected any of my plays though.

There is a Notable that you can recruit to get your Peon cost down to 1 rupee.

Regarding "worker placement types" there's the one you go there, activate and benefit not only you, but someone is already there (i.e. Calimala). My two cents. :)
