I had issues with my brushes locking up until I realized that mine touched the ground at the "2" setting, which I thought meant 2 inches. So I learned to run mine at around 4.5 or 5 to solve that problem. The metering on the side is not actual inches from ground.

Had one of these about 5 years. The upper bag support bar broke and I replace it in year 3. Year 4, the adjustment for height froze up and does not work anymore. Year 5 the bag wore out. Tried to buy a replacement 3 different times. Twice from Sears and once from another company but all using the recommended dealers listed in the manual. Used the same part number described on the sweeper each time. I never received a bag that fit. Buying a new sweeper now...Ohio Steel 50". You can actually buy parts on their web page.

Thanks for the video review! I've been looking at getting the Cub Cadet version of this sweeper, but I wasn't sure it could handle the thickness of the clippings I generate. My grass looks like yours, but I have patches of broad leaf weeds that seem to always be damp, no matter how dry the rest of the lawn is. After seeing your review, I think this sweeper can handle it. Thanks again!

Will it be easy to attach to a three point hitch system like on a Ford 8N tractor? Do I need a tow bar attachment, or some sort of sway bar to attach the front of the dethatcher bar?

Real dumb question. Will the sweeper work on asphalt. Mostly to grab live oak leaves and small debris. If any one has used it this way I would very much appreciate your input.

So sorry for the late reply as I didn't see your comment. Yes it will work well on smooth surfaces such as concrete and asphalt. Simply adjust the settings to the desired height and let it work! Hope it works out for you and my comment isn't too late. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

How well does it really work on wet leaves

Actually works wells, but nowhere near the results on dry leaves. The way I did the leaves (before I moved) when they were wet was go over them one pass, which gets about half or more. And then let them dry out a little and run over them again. But it beats a rake any day!

Christy Brown no ma’am. It picks up the cuttings after you’ve moved your lawn. Also, if you stripe your lawn, you can go over in the same pattern/direction you’ve striped in and it will make the stripes even more visible. Thanks for commenting! Any other questions, ask away.

Lionel Haarhoff yes. It does great. I’ve used this thing until the wheels are about to fall off and it’s still doing awesome! It’ll pretty much pick up any size, length, thickness of grass you want it to. The grass in this video was crazy thick because I was just making this place for the house. It was basically a hay field that I went over with the hustler.

Jules Tremblay I’ve read the same comments and reviews. This one is still going strong. I use it once a month to define the stripes in my yard. Works great even today. About time to buy a new net, but that’s only because this one has been used to death. I’ll grab the model and all for you tomorrow morning.
