You didn't even mention the Kashmir region, that gives the fiber it's name. Yes, the word Cashmere was introduced to the world through Kashmir shawls that were the finest woolen textile, worn only by the royalty. At that time, Kashmir was spelled as "Cashmere" - hence the name. Yet again, the name was co-opted by the bigger, commercial machine. Besides, the ChangThang goat that you mention lives in the Ladakh region of Kashmir. Ironic that you leave out the most significant detail
