War is never fair it, only takes, and never gives. Victor is only sweet when you have no enemies left to fight. But even then, it is bitter sweet at best. Because not only has the other side loat so many lives, but your as well. However, with that said, sometimes war is both inevitable, and necessary for the protection from further loss of civilians. I just wish an act like that in the story is all it took to stop a war.

Great story; Excellent narration! There is no honor in war. There can be compassion and mercy, but NO honor! War is hell and should be avoided when possible. But if it can't, then is should be pursued with efficiency and brutality until its objectives are met!
@Wastelandman70008 ай бұрын
I am always reminded of this quote from the manga Bleach “Oh. That’s right. You performed some kind of screaming ritual before we fought. Maybe you think that’s a proper way for a warrior to conduct himself…but that’s incomprehensible to me. Third company’s flower is a marigold. It symbolizes despair. It’s also the symbol of our confidence and pride. Fighting isn’t heroic. It’s not meant to be exhilarating. Violence should only bring despair. It’s dark…and terrifying. It must remain gruesome…otherwise people won’t fear it..and try to avoid it.” Followed by, "You asked what I was going to cut with that silly sword...."

This was dark af, actually; and he should have put a blade through that ambassador's knee when he asked for blood. Dude got off on watching one of his people be killed; how does that make him less likely to come back for more? I know, I know, we're meant to feel bad for the guy who lost his shit and killed the chicken (he clearly does not think he's acting under orders, even if this somehow stopped the war and he doesn't go to jail, he's definitely never back in a room with a diplomat). But this felt more like HBO's Sparticus, just swap fucking for murder and oh look, death matches are back on offer. Wanna go to war with humanity? Present your champion. Worst of all, humanity would probably be *delighted* by this idea. It wounds so much cheaper than a war, doesn't it? Only it wouldn't be, really.

From the way he compared their style to napoleonic in nature and structure I’m assuming the nobles order a bunch of peasants to die in crude human wave tactics while they sit in a really nice tent at a safe distance and earn honors and accolades from their peers. Shit like that is why the industrial meat grinder that was ww1 ended with the world’s major empires loosing all their influence. It turns out your average citizen doesn’t like having all their friends brutally killed because their ruler decided to write checks his ass could cash, then prance around like they alone managed to achieve something.

:Edited for spelling: The Maliox ambassador then went home and said that a war with the humans would be pointless. They have no honor and refuse to fight civilly. It would be like a noble mother (insert alien equivalent of a bear) defending her brood from a pack of vicious, savage (insert alien equivalent of wolves.) Her children would live, but nothing would be gained. We should leave the Humans to their own path and not cross them, and we would benefit from the better part of discretion.

At this date, it's the more dreadfull story you ever narated. By overwelming the avian guard, the soldier clearly expressed the terran way of war, one will get down. It was the last gesture of peace and the poultry diplomat didn't understoud the meaning. The soldier could have spared the guard by shoting him in a non life threatening spot but the poultry needed to understand that the one down will die. And we will make sure that it won't be us and it would probably be with their weapons.
