In virtually every Cthulhu story the primary target for the "Unknowable horrors" from the space between the various dimensions is humanity. Even this story references that with it's depiction of the human supermind as a live baited trap for the entire multiverse. There's a reason for this fact that is mentioned in several Lovecraft novels, I can't recall exactly what it was, something about overly fertile minds, manifestation and fear of the unknown or whatever. All I can say is "Hold ma beer".

100K - FANTASTIC!!! I can't even imagine how horrible it might be to be a telepath. It's hard enough just with my own mind - but to have to know someone else's mind.....NO! One can assume that telepath's need major emotional counseling on a very regular basis. Much less if that telepath is from an entirely different species. I mean, an entirely alien thought process - NOOOOO! This telepath did the conscious, subconscious, The Ego and Id and now below that - probably things from our evolution we are not even aware of. Not a good idea! But humans as a bait trap to stop interdimensional beings trying to kidnap beings from our universe or invade - yep, don't look into a humans mind. Sadly as the ending of the story indicates - someone just had to break that wall in some humans mind and release Cthulhu. LOL - though I wouldn't mind them releasing dragons back into our universe.
@InternetGravedigger9 ай бұрын
Came across a quote years ago, that basically said telepathy would be an evolutionary dead end because any true telepath would see into the minds of others and quickly come to the conclusion that everyone other than themselves was completely and irrevocably insane.

Great story, been to that dome, spent several years staring at it when a child. As young adult immortal, the dome still leaks at times, but less so every year. Cthulhu has no hope in the upcoming war, though it will be billions dead on Earth when it starts in earnest. As an immortal though, all I can do is sigh, and tell you the future.

@@Thurgosh_OG I have foretold the future on several occasions and never been wrong. Example, once I told someone that a guy 100+ people were following would die at noon, Easter Sunday, 2 weeks before he did (he was in his 40s). That's just one of several examples. My wife has also done these things. We don't plan or control these events, which occur every few years, completely wo our control. I am telling you all now that the dome WILL come down, and it will take ONE human to chain all those creatures, gods ect in a bloody battle which will keep them contained for at least 1,000 years. They will then be let loose one last time and that final battle in The War will result in the nuclear disintegration of the entire universe. Even so, my wife, me and our 5 children will all survive. It will be a Glorious carnage! Now, perhaps I am a Russian AI chatbot, or an incel in his mom's basement, or a professor of medicine and bioochemistry. Whichever, I assure you Truth is stranger than fiction. Lovecraft wasn't creative enough for the things I have seen. It has been many years since one of these things manifested. It was extremely pissed of at me, but could do nothing. It couldn't even leave, as I stared at it in pity. They're not afraid of me. They're merely impotent at me/ Now, my son, however, got into trouble, which is why I was there. I am only a vessel. Hopefully my son is learning this.
