What does it take to be an "honorary" doctor of psychology?
@BrazenBard11 ай бұрын
@@anathardayaldar As I understand it, usually it's a recognition for lifelong work in one field or another related to the doctorate, but without the actual academic background - an honorary doctorate in a medical field won't get you a job in a hospital, but it can get you in as a guest lecturer, that sort of thing. Assuming, of course, that I've understood it correctly.

It is always amusing to me when I catch the misinterpretations by the other species from the human dialect. Similar to how certain words when translated from English to, say, French, to German, then back to English the word has shifted into something else.
@ReZerO10011 ай бұрын
back when i was in college and living in residence, there was a student from France there, he came up to me one day exclaiming excitedly that he had just seen a "wash bear" i was incredibly confused until we discussed it further and i figured out that it was a Racoon, he only knew the German word for a racoon, translated that from German to French and then to English
@KaiHenningsen11 ай бұрын
@@ReZerO100 Looks bearish, famous for washing its food, yes. "Bear", like "apple", is often used as a basis for naming a species that is not closely related to the one where the name came from. There are, of course, other examples. Like "fly", for example (dragonfly, butterfly).

A well thought out and narrated story. I have occasionally pondered our planet's name and generally came to the same conclusion as the author. I remember some people on the forum of the web comic "Freefall" suggest that Sam Starfall's homeworld should be called "Mud" as the world is mostly swampy.

I was born on a water moon. Some people, especially its inhabitants, called it a planet, but as it was only a little over two hundred kilometres in diameter 'moon' seems the more accurate term. The moon was made entirely of water, by which I mean it was a globe that not only had no land, but no rock either, a sphere with no solid core at all, just water, all the way down to the very centre of the globe.😭💔 Travel far and well Iain!

Oh good golly... that was not a beat down... that was the equivalent of the speed-boat of Somali pirates who tried to board an navel supply ship. The turkey got plucked bare and oven roasted, the fish got filleted and fried, and only the insect bugged out fast enough to keep from getting a boot dropped on him. Heck, even the modressor was running scared by the end. Well, it was nice being respected while it lasted. But at least the next time someone chuckles about planet dirt, they will have a clue. Too bad he did not get to the other things translators do to keep everyone from being called "human", or the way all the nations originally meant "here" and "over there", or even that all languages translate to "our language" and "incomprehensible jibberish". They got lucky it was a sociology prof. If it was a linguistics major it would have lasted a good hour, and have to be censored on account of violence. History? Yeah, R-18 rating for sure that show, probably demonetized also. He will have fun with the next 15 visits from this species, but it will be a late night talk show.

And those are just examples of words with multiple meanings in ENGLISH, don't get us started on all our different languages. I'm from denmark, we have a word joke "Får får får? nej får får ikke får, får får lam" Translated to english it means "does sheep get sheep? No sheep dose not get sheep, sheep get lambs" "Får" can mean both "sheep" or "get". If I remember correctly, there's a chinese "word joke/poem" a bit similar, it's made from the same "word" (shi, if I remember correctly) all the way through.

@@noppornwongrassamee8941 You missed the meaning entirely. Earth is an english word which means it appeared after V century a.d. By that time, two attempts to build a socially just type of the post-information society (also known as communism) had already failed in Sparta. Pythagoras said that the Γαῖα is round a thousand years before. Heron of Alexandria has already created a steam engine. And in India, matanalysis was created.
