You know, I think Elizabeth might have accepted the offer, but the whole "scatter the human population across multiple worlds" was the clear deal breaker here. When you're down to 30k people, splitting up into smaller populations is a clear no go as far as maintaining genetic diversity goes.
@babla694202 жыл бұрын
He said eventually, when the population in the colony was large enough
@stevedixon9212 жыл бұрын
It was possibly presented as a form of species distribution (putting part of your population on different planets/systems) so as to limit the effect of one population being wiped out entirely ending the species. But you need a lot of people to maintain a reliable genetic pool. The classic, "your vulnerable, you have no choice" tactic of 'integration'. Too bad they don't know what a ground built spaceship looks like.
@lyrigageforge325911 ай бұрын
Talking about splitting up a small population into smaller groups on different planets - that is indeed an issue where it comes to genetics. To save enough diversity, you need at least 10K people to 'start with'. But at the same time - there are and has been governments even on Earth who practice certain rather dubious policies. Like USSR in it's time. They would take those Finno-Ugric (yea related to Finns) peoples living in their area, split communities and send portions elsewhere, while doing similar things to send parts of other 'native nations or tribes' to live in the former homes of those they moved. This was done to 'prevent nationalism from taking root' and the area from wanting to separate - aka organize and have population enough to free themselves from Soviet-Russian hold. And by the way, Ukraine has similar experiences. The very reason Ukraine has people who have relatives in Moskov region is because of same kind of forced population re-locations during Soviet-Russian era - because in 1950s Ukraine had partisans trying to free themselves from USSR hold. It was, in long run - a way to arrange mixed backgrounds. Anyhow - even today, if you are not of 'Slavic origin' - you may have issues finding housing, to give example of how all that affect there still despite USSR is gone. Technically there exists a treaty, which would allow Finland to 'protect the interests' of all Finno-Ugric tribes, because Russia insists the same or it's people - but with Ukraine war, it isn't much that can be done simply 'talking' to remind about matters to fix. Anyhow - separating populations into smaller pockets is a population control method, which generally is used to reduce their ability to fend for themselves. Those humans may even have ended up assuming that the intent was to make sure our species would 'slowly decline' and vanish. But, on other hand, perhaps these aliens may have been the exception in what that sort of arrangements mean - but still the way he thought about humans would not have given any expression of benevolent intents. Phobic to say the least - racist if not perhaps the worst. And well, keeping them under lock and key - lol - that was like humans figuring out 'feck it' - I didn't do anything wrong - prison break it is. Makes me wonder what short of 'politicial system' there is behind these aliens. The whole matter about 'clasifying' if you are - which was it sapient or sentient (as those don't mean the same) - now that is really racist to be honest. A bit colonialist mentality to say the least - and acting a bit like some sort of communist group for all I can see. So yea... it's funny though... that these aliens would not even have realized that it's a damned rocket the tower. lol

@Hellsong89 Жыл бұрын
There is multitude of exo planets around, least 3 "close by" to earth that could have life and more are detected all the time. Not to mention there is ridiculous amount of resources in space, in asteroid belts etc. Just get ship that has self sufficiency for maintain the population, lift off to closest unclaimed asteroid belt with tech "borrowed" from advanced xenos species, mine the shit out of it for raw resources, produce more tech that can sustain the colony and increase the size of the ship and eventually you have something resembling Eldar craftworld from 40K that houses hundreds of millions, if not billions of people depending how tight packed you make it, with its own defense fleets, mining processing and manufacturing. From there you go ether planet or increase further to sister "craftworld" and its fleets... Then you start mining shit out of the planets all the while fucking like rabbits and soon you have a empire. Small for sure, but it does not take long before you have actual empire, with far more advanced tech that we use to and gaining state of the art by borrowing and well any means necessary until rivaling or surpassing the xenos empire that almost made you extinct, before you go back and remind why it was mistake to let 30k of us survive and even bigger one to attack us in the first place...
