Mine beat Acute Myeloid Leukaemia four times. The fifth time took her. She was 56.

My mama is still alive and well, not even that old, early 40s or late 30s, and I cried for a good long while with that one. How can a story be that powerful? I wonder sometimes if my own memory would be good enough on its own to reconstruct a person who had already died like that. I somehow doubt it would…

They do not die until you forget. Not really, I lost my mother when she was 56 to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. She beat it four times, but it kept coming back, the fifth time took her. But in a way she is not truly gone because we still remember her. I can hear her voice in my head if I do something stupid, ESPECIALLY if I do something stupid! Time takes much of the pain away, but you always miss them, and always remember. A person does not die until the last person who remembers them does.

Sigh. I always cry at dog stories. Its been decades since Davis and Saint passed. The only thing I can describe it as is "survives guilt". I don't miss the people in my life who have left, but I miss them. What the hell is wrong with me. Sigh.

If we ever make it to the stars or discover life on other planets, we need to send & translate stories like this so that aliens know just how compassionate and care while also how dangerous humanity is and encourage friendly relationships

Story number 1: I'm a White guy married to a Black woman. Yeah, sometimes it's like that. Wouldn't trade her for the world.
