Found your channel last week and your ride videos are excellent, really enjoyed them, so much in fact, I re-watch them. I've been a skateboarder for many years and just bought my first Onewheel as I'm now too arthritic and broken to skate. Dude, I love this vid and now plan to get a Onewheel myself, but your negativity bites! There's no reason to look down on others less fortunate than yourself. Some people aren't physically well enough (or young enough) to maneuver on a Onewheel for a commute to work, some folks have families to support ...but that doesn't make any of them suckers because they don't get to enjoy the freedoms and lifestyle that Stroh does! I commute to work on my bike and its amazing and liberating every time, but I just keep it moving. Your comment sounds as if you think you're superior for using an alternative form of transportation...This sort of negative mentality on life disgusts me, and its toxic in the free lifestyle community. @@TheGreenRee I lived in Chicago for 7 years, didn't own a car while living there, and subsequently depended on public transportation. I had a homeless guy take a shit under my seat during my commute once. Needless to say, I stand by my statement because I know from first-hand experience what it's like to be packed into a standing-room-only bus of people who are tired from just getting up and cranky from not having their coffee yet. Also, my use of the word "suckers" was hyperbole to emphasize how much more enjoyable a OneWheel is than riding the bus; I'm not making a statement about the people, I'm saying riding the OW far better than the bus.

Awesome videos! I just ordered my Onewheel XR should arrive soon. I’m totally new to this. I’ll be honest I am a little scared. I bought it for my commute from Union Station to my office which is probably less than 2 miles mostly on the bike lane on Washington. Have you had any issues with riding in the city or have you been cited a ticket?

He always steps off with his front (left) foot first, as usual, so I'm not sure what you're referring to.

I’m referring to the right heal while riding or when idling at stops (not in reference to dismounting) which often clearly comes off the board. 1min 33 sec for example

Ah. I can't answer that, probably just a stance change for comfort or reducing fatigue. If he pulled that stance while stationary and the footpads were flipped, though, that'd disengage the motor!

Dude have you considered the 'CarvePower' concave footpad. I'm shoe size 13+ so my heel is half on rail and I've almost got a monkey toe so I'm looking for a less aggressive heel to toe concave and although I guess the weight will be a bit more for a plastic/weather proof deck I'm thinking it's a worth it! I live in Scotland so the golf course is often wet. Also with my larger feet I'm considering running those 'flexi rulers' up the centre of both pads with some double sided sticky to add some W concave... so anyway just wondering if you'd considered giving them a try and review before I get them sent over with all the taxes/postage

Do the fins help much for getting over bumps and raised surfaces? I ride around Manhattan and some of the curb lips catch the board. I'm probably not going fast enough with people walking around so I wonder if those will help.

Major city driving with lots of stop and go. You cant ride like this in rural areas or areas in which traffic doesnt stop. I live in D.c in which it is easier to ride like this. But very few can ride as good as Sly. I only ride in traffic in spurts.

Sal The trick is to skid the back float plate on the ground and just take your front foot off. It takes a bit of trust in the board and the maneuver but it’s easier than you think! Give it a shot.

@@slydogstroh Thanks for this tip! Practiced a bit last night and it's definitely a much more natural feeling dismount than the heel lift. Like you said easier than it looks but if you don't get the timing right you'll get wheelspin pulling the board backwards!

saltwater fever With the XR I was getting 14 miles in warm weather. Now it’s under 30 degrees most of the time and I’m getting around 7-8 miles range per charge. Charges 0-100 in just under 2 hours.

No, not worth 200 just for stability… I would recommend a Kush Wide footpad from TFL, adds a ton of stability without locking you in.
