mercuryfaith Alive or Just Breathing?
@mercuryfaith6 жыл бұрын
Harvester Of Tone Alive Or Just Breathing it's a good album and It's a piece of history of metalcore but there is no comparison...Ascendancy it's more AMAZING! The mix of creativity, intellect and emotionality is almost perfect...there is everything that makes Metal..."metal"! Technique, melodies, screams, growls, clean parts, good lyrics, good production, good concept, excellent balance between all instruments, excellent drum parts, excellent riffs, excellent solos, good balance between bass guitar and drum, excellent growls and screams, good clean parts, good melodies but not too "pop"...AMAZING!
@harvesteroftone54736 жыл бұрын
mercuryfaith I mostly agree. My only issue is calling Trivium Metalcore. Their guitar work is complexed and much more traditional. Not really influenced by At the Gates like most early 2000s Metalcore. Matt's vocals are the only real reason they got lumped in with the genre. Killswitch are Metalcore pioneers. Alive or Just Breathing is the quintessential Metalcore album. It's a masterpiece. Ascendancy is one of the best metal albums ever. Matt was only 18 when he recorded it. Definitely my personal favourite from Trivium. I remember buying it the day it was released in 2005. I don't understand the flack Trivium get, when bands with half the talent are revered.
@mercuryfaith6 жыл бұрын
Harvester Of Tone I don't call Trivium Metalcore...I call Ascendancy Metalcore because it's.....it's a metalcore album! Of course they have changed style but the first two records are Metalcore and yes, Killswitch are pioneers but they can't compete with Ascendancy or Shogun...however the problem with fanaticism for Trivium comes from two factors: 1) emotional factor for those who grew up with them (I can't criticize Linkin Park for example) 2) ear too atrophied to understand that if you want to idolize someone ... that someone is STEVEN WILSON!

Love this album. I don't listen to a ton of Trivium anymore but this was one of the albums that helped me open my mind to modern music / music with harsh vocals when I was a little kid mostly listening to dad music. I also only played drums (no guitar yet) when this came out and Travis inspired me to get a double bass pedal. Nice job!

Even though I didn't use Ascendancy as inspiration for my playing, I can't deny how Trivium had a hand in how I come up with dual guitar harmonies. You did this medley justice, Hunter.
