I watched another KZbinr demo those pickups and damn they sounded massive, same for your demo, they literally sounded like the beginning riff from before I forget and when I mean literally I mean straight off from the song, of course I know their signature pickups but when you can create the same sound from like years ago that’s something special.
@damienalvarez29574 ай бұрын
Take note of his amp more so than the pickups. You just want to have pickups that produce a clear signal with as little noise as possible. The actual heavy lifting with the tone comes from your amp & cab combo.

@RyRyTheBassGuy you didn't buy BOs if you had to solder the pots. With FM, they have quick connect albeit if it's fishman swap. However, you can use the EMG quick connect with Modern Fishmans, with the jumper that is provided.

Hey Hunter! I never thought about it until I watched this video, but I suggest that using the pitch shifting changes the tuning of the pickup. If the pitch shift is down 1-1/2 steps, that would be a factor of 0.842. For the bridge Voice-1 spec with a peak frequency of 650Hz, that would get moved down to 547Hz. It could be a fun experiment to compare the pickups with actual drop-B string tuning against drop-D with the pitch shifting.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Mick is playing a custom Telecaster with Bare Knuckle pickups in five years 😂

I have Fishman Moderns in 3 of my guitars and I wire up all the extra features such as the HFT (high frequency tilt) and on the new moderns you can select whixh coil, N/S is active when using the split coil feature (or dont select either and you get a parrallel sound and many more possibilities. But when theres 13 wires from eaxh pickup, it can be a little overwhelming. That and so many of the tonal variations cannot be heard well at higher gain.
@dreammachine864 ай бұрын
I noticed a 'Voice 1 Bass Boost' on the bridge for this Mick Thomson set. Tbh this set's sound isn't my kinda vibe but it's cool to see Fishman bringing in even more features. Of course you can use EQs etc. to shape your tone but having a switch on the guitar to do it immediately is more convenient, and doing it at the pickup level should be better for clarity. I have a guitar with Moderns coming soon, but they are the 2 voice versions. I have a Schecter KM-7 with the Keith Merrow set which are 3 voice but not liking the bridge pickup in that much. So I'm trading that guitar for something else. But I definitely want to wire up the coil split on the new guitar - I have a Cort KX507 that is wired up for coil split on the 2 voice Moderns and I use the coil split a lot. I've thought of an even more fancy setup for my new guitar though. You can apparently take the raw output of one coil, and feed it into the preamp of another Fluence pickup. This little trick is used in the Abasi set, as he has two very different single coil voices - a Strat inspired sound for the bridge, and Tele for the neck. So for his inner coils position, it routes both through the bridge's preamp. I seem to prefer the sound of the dedicated singe coil voice 3 for the neck, but the dirtier coil split on the bridge. So I'm thinking of getting a 3 voice Modern for the neck. Then I can route a bridge coil through the neck's preamp when I want say a both inner coils position with voice 3. But I would still have the option to just do a basic coil split on the bridge and get the percussive djenty sound I like. Love your handle btw, somewhat Monty Python inspired!

Yeah, they really need a quick connect system. It would have had me put fishmans in two now emg loaded guitars. Would make switching between ways to connect them even easier as well. The technology is there, and it's not like they hate progress 😉
@timwhite55624 ай бұрын
If he wanted them with a lower output because it works better with overdrives, it's not s stretch to assume he's might be using a boost or OD as an always-on pedal. If he does it would render the inherent problem of a low output pickup moot.

Really missing an opportunity to add one more push pull pot for stereo output, which can be done on an active guitar, would be a really nice way to demonstrate the differences between the neck and bridge, also makes recording rhythms really quick, I know because most of my guitars and basses are wired switchable stereo, bass bridge goes to dirty tone, neck is clean bass tone, 1 take, 2 separate tones, completely in sync and no phase issues
