I have TH500 for almost 10 years and I love it but the AG500 sounds really good too, I wish I can try it soon.

hell yeah. I have the OG AG500 and it SLAYS. a jazz bass (with 70s voiced pickups) > TLC comp > sansamp > AG500 is the best combo ever

Beautiful sound and I enjoyed your playing. Especially White Wedding which I'm currently learning

did they changed the gain staging on the Tone Hammer? I have a 350 and the Tone Hammer DI, and both can get full blown distortion without any problem. you need to set them up right as it's not very intuitive.

Nice! Am I correct in assuming that these are the same amps (except that there was only an AG 700 before) with added features?
@johnsausage7 ай бұрын
In terms of sound on stage: Do NOT underestimate the importance of the cab. 95% of the sound is determined by the cab. If you have different heads that you can use with the same cab, try it out yourself. I tried a Bassman 100 (full tube) alongside the TC Electronic BH 250. Soundwise they were almost indistinguishable when played clean; the Bassman 100 had much more treble / clarity in upper range and obviously more headroom that is also noticeable at lower volumes (when you dig into the strings, the TC BH 250 will start to limit the output signal much more than the Bassman). Other than that, the feature set of these new amps is just incredible!

25+ gigging and Aguilar TH-500 is the only amp that’s ever broken on me mid-show. No fault of my own, just cheap parts and super short warranty. Fixed it and couldn’t sell it fast enough.
@EllieReagan7 ай бұрын
And for clarification, I bought the amp new and gigged with it exclusively for three or so years. No damage, always transported in a case. But the power section just failed. Aguilar didn’t seem to care about customer satisfaction/retention, but they were happy to sell me the replacement parts (which were back ordered). I’m not just trying to drop into the chat for criticism’s sake. I genuinely encourage you to look for a better amp, or at least buy two TH’s and bring a backup to all your gigs.

I have an old ag500 DC. Its my only Bass head for 15 years. Never failed. But i also have to admit that i dont trust the newer ones and i'm afraid they only carry the name forward. Time will tell.
@EllieReagan6 ай бұрын
@@AdamKnorr yeah, I think you nailed it. Aguilar stuff should last for the long run, that’s kind of the point. So when it fails, you’d think the sterling brand reputation should be worth protecting, unless you know corners are being cut with the newer stuff.

@@EllieReagancheap parts? The power section in the Class D Aguilar amps is identical to numerous competitor amps; Mesa tune theirs to power at 2ohms but it’s the same off-the-shelf 3rd party power section. Whatever head you had would likely have failed just as quick.
@EllieReagan6 ай бұрын
@@Uygkuyfkutfkytfkutfv Interesting if true - not doubting you specifically, I just don’t know you from anyone else. I replaced the failed Tone Hammer with a Mesa Prodigy (all tube), btw. At least those kinds of failures are a little more predictable.

Why do Guitar players on KZbin always demo gear with the BEST of the BEST guitars, but my fellow Bass players demo gear with CHEAP BASSES? I’ve noticed that most bass players I have seen on you tube always play CHEAP basses. I’ll never understand.

Too prove that we can do more with less lol. We are humble compared to guitarist tho we do have that special boutique or custom build bass we pull out during the live performances lol
