Aguirre, Wrath of God - Review and Analysis

In this video I review and analyse the 1972, Werner Herzog film - Aguirre, Wrath of God. A German Language film starring Klaus Kinski. The film is about a group of conquistadors on a dangerous mission through the Peruvian jungle in search of El Dorado - the city of Gold. It ranks as the 17th greatest foreign language film of all time according too the BBC.

Bumped into Herzog whilst walking our dogs on Mulholland recently. Told him he was my hero which was pretty lame but I guess honest! What else can you say about a man who could direct such a transcendent masterpiece as Aguirre?

well you have to consider that Herzog just had 1 small hand held camera + 1 tripod to shoot this film..and that camera + tripod he stole from the Bavarian film school in order to even have one for making that film.. "In today´s terms" that´s basically like shooting that whole film just with a single smart phone.

His treatment of animals in his films is utter disgraceful and abjectly reprehensible in various ways. The films themselves, aguirre, cave dreams, and nosgeratu especially, are quite fascinating but do to this behavior i can't watch them in their entirety

True. The animal abuse is the only thing that leaves me from giving his work 10/10
