I recommend you guys watching his vlive talking about Agust D2 . Yes, Dear my friend was a real story from what I remember. I was saddened hearing about it too but wow he’s such a good friend and in a young age he has really been through a lot and that’s why he has soo much wisdom. Bangtan always says that Yoongi is the strongest person they know and I can see why. He was shaped through experiences. Thank you for this family I love hearing your thoughts on his lyrics.

Commentary on people: Yoongi has mentioned this a lot but he said when they’ve become successful he sometimes wishes he cherished what was ‘normal’ then like hanging out with friends, or simply going to stores and not getting mobbed. my favorite line from People has to be: _“your specialness is in turn my averageness, your averageness is in turn my specialness”_ because the way i *interpret* it: yoongi being famous, being as talented as he is, is special to some; they want to be like him, whilst it’s an everyday thing for yoongi so he’s used to it, hence it being his averageness. and people’s averageness, i guess having friends, being able to meet up with them, and just having fun outside of work in general, is yoongi’s specialness.

I cried so much with Dear my friend. That story hits hard. Actually, the first time I listened to D-2 I was vibing so hard with the first songs and then I was sad af. I even cried listening to People but now is like a healing and happy song for me. Reading again all the lyrics and listening to your comments makes me think that the general topic of this mixtape it' probably about change and reality. It's okay to feel happy, to feel angry or sad. You can't avoid change and just accept all the things that happened and and are happening right now, even if you burn that past, life goes on.

I think I translated “dear my friend” as the friend that yoongi thought would be by his side and would fight alongside him to achieve all of their dreams suddenly decided to give up and it made yoongi angry and disappointed. I think what his friend offered was suicide, based on the context of the story. Funny how this reaction is the first time I’ve really looked at the lyrics to the song. Thanks a lot 💜

I can relate to marisol haha People is that track that even if you don't know the lyrics, the beat itself made you feel what it was trying to make you feel hahaha. When this mixtape came out, i first listened to all the songs and my instant faves are 28, People and dear my friend.
