So glad he appreciates Adora's backing vocals! ❤ Some info: Adora is a singer/producer who worked at Bighit for many years. Whenever you hear female backing vocals in a bts song, that's her. A noticeable example is the song Inner Child. She left Bighit a few years ago to start her own solo career. But she's still close with them: Yoongi asked her to record vocals for SDL and she also sang live during some of his tour!

Thank you Sleep and Varnell - this is so much fun! Suga is such a talented producer, and I've noticed he has a love of big orchestration and expansive soundscapes - it shows up in his BTS and Agust D work, but it's more noticeable in his production for outside projects, like "Stay Alive" (an OST featuring Jungkook) and "Over the Horizon, " his 2022 version of Samsung's ringtone. Ryuichi Sakamoto was one of his heroes--they met a few months before his passing (no spoilers y'all)--and Suga used to make beats with his instrumental pieces. I just know he has a movie score in him, and I really hope he'll do one someday. 💜

I went to Berklee in Boston on scholarship for R&B vocal performance and then studied Music Business at Musicians Institute in L.A. Grew up on jazz. Seriously appreciate you guys. It’s so nice to watch truly knowledgeable people. Plus I get to learn new things too with your homage to “Pop Up Video” facts. 😂

Your imitation, after hearing Daechwita, of what the fans were rocking like? That was my 70-year-old white lady mom, who had never listened to rap or hiphop in her life, at Agust D's tour concert on Mother's Day, 2023 in LA. She refuses to admit that she's ARMY, but she LOVES RM and Suga/Agust D. 😄💜

Everything they say is so true, RM doesn't get all the credit he deserves from the industry just because he is Korean, music is universal and his art touches everyone who truly appreciates music and good art. For me, the rap line is the soul of BTS, the way they guide their projects in such a personal way, so involved and, above all, so original and honest, is something that is very rare to see today and that is part of what makes them such unique and incredible artists.

19:24 Jungkook was 15 the youngest and the eldest was Jin at 21. They are the literal definition of “We started at the bottom and now we’re here” because they started from a broke ass company with like 20 employees that was close to bankruptcy didn’t have any of the other groups had and the other groups tried to take them out. they were known as monster rookies, and them and their sincerity and their music are the reason why we are so fiercely loyal as well as defensive because if you take the time, as you’re discovering, to put aside all prejudice and just listen to their music you will find that they are amazing

So the thing with rapline is that they are big lovers of the old school rap that they would actually basically hold classes for the other members when they joined so that the vocal line could appreciate what they were trying to do when they first were becoming a hip-hop group more than an idol group which they more became. Yoongi especially loves Eminem.

I love the fact that you guys mention that we don't have to know the language to capture the vibe and the feeling of what he's rapping about. And that's absolutely true. Music goes way beyond language barrier. His solo projects might be my favorite from all the seven. Because his skills as a producer are all over Agust D (1st project), D-2 and D-Day, he really went above and beyond and at the same time his albums are so personal and talk about all hus struggles with anxiety and mental health. I can honestly say his songs, specially from his 3rd album D-Day saved me from a very difficult situation. I'm very glad you're covering his solo work. Can't wait for you to cover more members and BTS group Songs!!!!!!

Fyi Varnell, AgustD/Suga is the NBA Ambassador, and has an NBA clothing line from his D-Day world tour. Suga is shooting guard abbreviation. AgustD is Suga backwards with TD added as Dageu Town, where Suga started his underground rap/producer career in high school.
