I purchased a product by Safer at my local nursery that’s used for treating spider mites. Been using it each week for 5 weeks now and my hoyas that haven’t grown in a year have finally started. Clearly I had flat mites, I highly recommend you treat all the hoyas especially the imports👍

I find the easiest way to kill mealy bugs is to add alcohol to a spray bottle and spray the whole plant down and after you should see a difference also don't leave it in the sun I usually do it before the sun comes out👍

Clove oil works great as pest control, it's organic can purchase at health food stores, add several drops to water in spray bottle, wet cotton ball , apply. I use anytime I have pests on plants. Plus works on Roaches ants, spiders.

Mix 1 cup alcohol,1/4 cup of water and a couple squirts of dish soap.Wash the leaves with spray hose trying not to get the bugs in your soil.Put them in the sink and spray upper and lower leaves and stems.Good luck!!

love your collection but i always want just one more after watching your videos. could you tell me which of your hoya thrive in the south facing window? i"m running out of room in my NYC East window, so need to move some to a south facing window, any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you. Hoya callistophylla does the best for me, because it’s always blooming.

Mealybugs dissolve in 70 % rubbing alcohol. It’s widely used with orchids. I usually do the cleaning before repotting (soak roots and all in that). Hence, I don’t see any mealies. Make sure it’s isopropanol. That is more gentle to the plant. Wipe all surfaces. If bad infestation: remove all media and dip the roots into rubbing alcohol. :)
@tropicalplantsfinland Жыл бұрын
Oh and don’t reuse any of the media that had been infested. They’ll come back.

So far I’ve gotten them under control with alcohol and peroxide, but this summer I need to do a full Repotting.

@@lifeofbellina If I’m not mistaken I saw someone testing the peroxide on the mealies and they didn’t even budge when in contact with the peroxide. With rubbing alcohol they dissolved. Would be nice to do same kind of test by someone else. I’m lacking that pest so cannot redo. 😄
