I'm afraid I disagree that the final C really begins flat -- with such a superb, believable characterization of Tonio, who cares anyway? Wonderful ensemble work (although Coro was slightly behind the conductor once or twice) -- I've never heard the orch. in this work sound so ALIVE. Bravi to all, esp. Yves Abel and the never-to-be-underestimated Maxim M. This makes all other readings I've heard seem pale & polite. Oh to be in Bologna...

Magnificent! And what is even more astounding is that despite he hits the last high-C just a little flat, Mironov's breath is such that he sustains the note until he turns it to a perfectly centered, radiant high C.

His high C is not flat?! If anything you could call that a colouration or so - we're probably talking about a millisecond with a few Hz under the note - If that sounds 'flat' to you, I don't dare imagening what you think of other singers. This is world class.

Try listening at the audio at 6:41, stop it and listen again at 6:47. Compare the two and you'll hear a truly flat high C, not just a few Hz under-almost a B natural, in fact-and then a splendid C at 6:44-6:47.@@niklasdefries

A very light tenor voice. Obvious that he can reach the many high Cs. No element of risk. When his voice grows darker in the year to come, he will probably be a lot better.
