1986. Salt-n-Pepa is old school hip-hop for sure. This song always reminds me of the times back before I was old enough to drink when my buddies and I would drive down to Tijuana -- where we were old enough to drink -- to go drinking and dancing with the girls. All the clubs on the strip -- Avenida Revolución -- cranked out this song at full volume so that you could hear it up and down the street. Needless to say we all had a lot of fun. When you're ready for more from Salt-N-Pepa check out "Shoop" and "Whatta Man" along with many others.

They were innovators......... At that time it wasn't any Female MCs getting shine😮...... But they come out hard, spitting from the females' perspective.... They were some of the FIRST!!!! Them, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and others I've might've 4gotten, set the BLUEPRINT for female rappers today.

These ladies pioneered females in rap music back in the day, paving the way for the Missy Elliott's and Cardi B's of the world... they made such a huge impact and are still considered the OG's of female rap! I was like 12 when this came out and literally EVERYONE was dancing to it regardless of what type of music you liked, they were just that good. Another song of theirs I adore is Shoop... and the female DJ spinning them records is known as DJ Spinderella, one of the best MC's of the 90's. These girls broke the mould in an age when Rap was supposedly a male only genre...legends of the game. :)

Guess I'm officially old now. My first thought was "ahhhh, the good ole days". Late 80's/early 90's hip hop was so awesome. I think The Chronic was the album that destroyed this and brought in gangster rap so hip hop was killed. Dre and Snoop early stuff was awesome and it was more of a transition out of fun and into hard. The main names I think of when I hear this is Rob Base and Tone Loc.
