Fun fact their live version is higher than the recorded version. They showed them working on the opening part in their documentary and if they had kept Aha in the key it was originally written in, the opening they added before Aha was too low for even Avi to hit. So they raised it a little making Mitch’s part even higher than what he does in the original video with the studio recording. They don’t even use the opening to it anymore since Avi left but they still perform Aha in the higher key. The song and Mitch hitting the high notes at the end are fan favorites at their live shows.

That was not in the documentary I have. Avi presented it in one key and they raised it up. He sang it to them so it was hardly too low for him to hit. Scott suggested a higher key. Since Avi had sung it in performance before the issue was not his range it was a matter of how it would sound to the audience.

I saw this live in Dallas. When they did the Christus Factus Opening, I wasn't expecting that. It was Brilliant! So masterfully done! Chill bumps to the max. Mitch's vocals are of course amazing. But what most people don't take in is the complexity of the Kirstie/Scott back up vocals. That's some very hard shit to sing in proper tempo and propels the song the whole way. The whole thing is so impressive-Avi, Kevin, the whole group. Incredible.

I didn't see where anyone else covered this, Just before this song they did one with Kevin using his cello, this video opened with Kevin backstage putting up the cello, he does join them, but is just never on camera. Now, something I noticed that I've never seen anyone else mention, is in the first half of the video, when Mitch first gets started good, if you notice, both Kirsten, and Scott move over so they don't get hit in Mitch's umm, enthusiasm. Matt, just think, you got to pause it when it got too real, think about being in the audience watching live, you can't pause. That would really be mind overload. Almost forgot, I'm not sure if it was the beginning of this song, or one before this, but apparently Avi, went too low and busted the speakers, that's why there is so much feedback. Avi is known for doing that, especially if the venue went cheap on their sound system.

Fun backstory: Mitch was severely jet-lagged just before he went on stage, so he decided to chug a couple of Red Bulls before going on to perform. That Red Bull dosage kicked in... just before the start of this number, and that was the result! Oh, and Kevin was there -- he was just putting his cello, Beyonce, back after the previous number. The chant-y bit at the beginning of this number gave him the opportunity to do that and still get back on stage for the 'A-ha!' performance (you may have noticed there was a gap on stage between Kirstie and Mitch at the start, but then when 'A-ha!' started, Mitch and Scott had moved over to close that gap, so Kevin could join them at the end. The person who filmed this was a huge Mitch fan, so the camera was on him 90% of the time which is why you don't see Kevin sliding back onstage, but honest, he was there!)

After the recorded version, he should do a live version with Mitch wearing that beautiful navy blue/black sequined suit - just to see him performing live. I think this is the same concert, Mitch in the same beautiful suit, where they did Bohemian Rhapsody and Mitch did the guitar solo expertly.

Yes, Avi can do overtone singing, AKA Tuvan throat singing. There are videos where he specifically demonstrates it. One of the oddest things about Season 3 of _The Sing-Off_ is that the judges never noticed Avi's overtone singing, even though he did it repeatedly.

Kevin was putting away his cello from the centre, then you can see Mitch and Kirstie get a bit closer to each other, as Kevin comes in on the left of Scott. LOL - Are you ready? No one is every ready for this one - even after watching it 100 times. Avi on that low note. Avi and Mitch matching pace at the beginning. Mitch is a skilled, gifted, talented and creative singer, vocalist and performer. His timing and precision are impeccable. His dancing is great. There are times he just bounces like an energizer bunny. So glad that you did the music video first so that you could hear the impeccable PTX vocals in the audio and then the live version to see them on stage. For sure Mitch owned this one. His smile at the end said it all 'Nailed it - and I had fun nailing it". If you want to see more of Mitch on stage please do "No" with Mitch wearing a black bow tie and a whit shirt. Recommend the music video first so you get the audio and the PTX perfection, then watch it live. If you want to hear Mitch expertly step-climb up the octaves, and start with his warm lower register, please do react to "Take On Me" (audio only).
