Great video - one comment I would add is that the removal of polyps during coloniscopy is not covered at 100% because it is considered surgical

Hi Dr. Bricker, love the videos! I find it to be such a paradox that preventive screenings and wellness programs all screen for BMI /weight but most plans I see (I work on the broker side) exclude weight loss programs/meds/ even consults with your doctor can be denied if the doctor codes it for weight loss or weight concerns. Why is this?

Someone should tell the healthcare providers about these allegedly 100%-covered preventive tests. I heard from many colleagues that a 'preventive' colonoscopy ended up costing them thousands of dollars after the doc changed the billing code to 'diagnostic' when finding a polyp. The healthcare industry in the US, and that includes insurance companies and providers, is broken. They don't try to keep patients healthy, they are only about maximizing profits.

Vitamin D levels should be included and covered. Instead such an important nutrient is ignored. They only want to check things that will make them money. Things that will put you on a big Pharma drug or require more invasive procedures like biopsies. Can you please discuss the problem of overdiagnosis and over treatment? I am in a place where I am perfectly happy to let my body tell me if there’s something I need to get checked. I am not going to go looking for things. I am well insured. Meanwhile poor people can’t even get actual medical problems taken care of. The whole system is so broken.

The wellness industry should be required to learn this stuff instead of screening the stuffing out of employees

A negative colonoscopy does not make you healthier. In fact you have subjected yourself to a expensive, grossly invasive test involving anesthesia as well as an unpleasant prep and this test is not without risks and complications. But hey you get to have that negative test to pad your chart with.
