Okay, but it's ASUS. If it breaks, they're going to laugh at your warranty claim. Or, try to make you ship an entire chair back. Hell no, this is some downright sellout shit right here.

I have this chair. The lumbar broke because its two adjustment knobs and if they aren't at the same level then one side gets more pressure and breaks. The knobs are plastic so they can't take much pressure. They want me to ship the entire chair back and pay for shippping.

Proper lumbar support and getting rid of the silly posture destroying bucket wings already put it head and shoulders above the rest. Lots of plastic parts for a $900 chair though. Things are moving in the right direction but i'd still pick a decent mesh office chair over this for 1/4 the price i think

If you don't have the two knobs for the lumbar at the exact same level then the threading from one of the knobs will break. I've had this for 6 months, been real gentle with it. The right side knobs thread broke so now its just stuck at the lowest level. Only way to get it fixed is if you send the entire chair back in for RMA and you gotta pay for shipping.

Just got it home and assembled. Positively surprised about it. I sit very comfortable and the mesh is nice. I was very curious since this is my first mesh chair, and I really like the breathability! The "tilt" does not have the space in the last t. Headrest can move but I have to give it some pressure. The arm rests move, but not as easily as seen in this video. I did not attach the acoustic panel. I do not like that you have to press that much on the mesh when attaching it. Seems like a thing they should change. But overall very happy. Now I just hope it lasts me a couple of years.

I followed your review and decided to get this to replace my racing seat, having already tried Aerons and Leaps at my school campus. I also considered the Fern, but the seat was too narrow. Despite the warranty and the arm/head rests being a bit loose, It is without a doubt the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. I feel secure in the chair, and the recline is the best I've tried. The seat is roomy too, and it can fit my body incredibly comfortably. OH! and the adjustable lumbar is absolutely amazing on my back. thank you for the reccomendation!

@@Ahnestly Yeah! The thing I really didn't like about the aeron is that the recline always made it feel like the back of the chair was always moving away from me, making it uncomfortable to sit in when trying to be productive. I've been using a full mesh chair for about 4 years now. While it's really nice to sit in (kind of the point), It collects funk like nothing else. The horizontal planes below/near the mesh just become petri dishes that stack dust, hair, you name it. Even with a normal cleaning regime, it's a very big pain point. I think my next chair will probably be much simpler in design with an emphasis on ergo without mesh.

FYI the physics for the soundshield do work, they're still good for headphones esp for open back if you need more external noise "canceling" There are plenty of cheap Ikea chairs that actually exploit this factor without putting it in marketing but it really does reduce the local noise around you. If asus wanted it to work better tho imo they should have made the rear piece not from plastic so the sound doesnt reflect back forward as well, but otherwise putting soft objects around the backside of your head & ears makes a huge difference in the level of noise reduction, and its great for speakers in particular. I dont think its a gimmick, i do think more products should use this simple but effective design tho.

Embody is still the best IMHO. There are some advantages that this has over the Embody, but there are also many advantages the Embody has over this chair. If you decide to pick up the gaming Embody, please consider using my link! Gaming Embody is $1700 unfortunately. During sales, more like 1400. The destrier will most likely go on sale and it’ll be down an equivalent amount. I love the embody. It’s my favorite. I was legit shocked by how much I liked this chair. From ASUS. I was like well….here goes $1k down the drain….LOL. Was so sad when the purchase actually went through instead of being rejected like all my attempts before to buy it

@SolipSauce

How would you rate this vs the Steelcase Gesture? Been considering the Gesture for a while since I often spend entire days at the desk, but the Destrier seems pretty attractive at half the price. I'm also the same height, 5'6"!
@shoppster300
@shoppster300 Жыл бұрын
I'm 5'8 and the Gesture didnt fit me at all, lumbar too high and weak and backrest designed for taller people. It also really needed a position lock for the tilt in between the ones it has. Chair was uncomfortable with a forward leaning seat angle and in the end I returned it. Still haven't replaced it.

I got this chair for 500 USD due to a good discount on the shop and a cashback from Asus. I Could buy 4 of these chairs at this price for 1 Embody with an atlas headrest. There is just no universe where I could imagine an embody being 4 times better than this chair, it is so good and keeps my back happy.

I honestly am a little undecided between this and the Haworth Fern. I would have gone on the Haworth because of the bigger warranty, but from what I've seen the support is pretty much nonexistent in Europe. For the same price would you recommend this Rog Destrier or the Haworth?

I have the Fern in digital knit, and I'm genuinely interested in how this chair holds up over time. I love the Haworth overall, but it is undoubtedly an ergonomic office chair first and foremost, with a firm seat and a long break in period. This chair seems like it might offer a better first impression if you're not used to high end ergo, or you plan to primarily use it for gaming and lounging. My other seat is a Shaquille O'Neal Nereus, and I would undoubtedly take either one of these over that monstrosity.

Hopefully the material is reliable. My 1999 Aeron is still operating like new, replaced mesh, gas struct, casters, bits and pieces here and there over past 2 decades via parts from ebay. Whereas my secretlab and autonomous were plastic city, became junk after couple years, not spare parts.

@@Ahnestly I LOVE this chair. Just completed assembly. It is SO wide, accomodating, and comfortable. Should the apocalypse come, I will seek refuge in this chair. It is supremely comfortable, 1/3 the price of an embody gaming variant (in Australia) and also it is built as strong as a fallout shelter. S-tier from me. No less than an A+. First of all, I saw your other comment and died laughing. For some reason, I read it in Keith David's voice (not sure if you watch Community, but esp as his character Elroy, when he said he had a problem with complimenting white people). Second, Gesture has to be king here bc of the warranty! But I was surprised at how much I liked the Destrier. Wish it had a more solid warranty!!
