R.C. Saunders, a recently paroled inmate, faces post-prison life, including temptation, self-doubt, and the lingering pull of his criminal past. Set in rural Illinois, the narrative blends Saunders’ optimism with setbacks, including a farmer run-in and finding an abandoned Ford Model T, where he reflects on the past mistakes that led to his incarceration. A hidden map detailing a potential bank robbery becomes a turning point, forcing Saunders to choose between crime and redemption.
