The way Ahsoka said "Did you fix the ship yet?" and "Great! Now get me." cracked me up. Goes to show that the more stern, zen-like behaviour is very much an intentional choice.

I like that they explained the existence of the map that Ahsoka found in a completely logical way. This is not a map that leads directly to Thrawn (that wouldn't make sense since the map is a thousand years old), it's just a map of space whale migration routes.

Qui Gon was a rebel within the Jedi Order. Obi Wan barely got accepted into the Jedi Academy and became one of the most powerful Jedi there ever was. Obi Wan trained Anakin who really did not stay true to the Jedi order throughout the clone wars before he became a Sith. To say a line of non-traditional Jedi..... understatement.

Wonderful episode. It was great to see more of Ahsoka and Sabine's personalities, while mixing in a training sequence, more Hera and Chopper (and Jacen), New Republic politics and a Resistance tie-in, a cool clash of ships, thar be Purrgils, more intrigue about the Hyperwarp Rings, etc. Not too bad in squeezing so much, without having it feel forced, and keeping things very satisfying, in 35 or so minutes (not including the extended end-credit time).

18:08 In lore, Force powers are divided/categorized as Sense/Control/Alter. Sense is, naturally, learning to sense the Force within and without yourself. Control is learning to control the Force within your own body to enhance your own abilities. Alter is the flashy stuff that is (mostly) outside of yourself, telekinesis etc. And that is the order in which apprentices learn to use the Force. First, you learn to connect with the Force, then you learn to empower yourself with it, then you learn to affect the world around you with it. Sabine is unlikely to ever develop Alter powers, but with enough work, she should be able to manage some measure of Sense and Control powers.

What's interesting about SW is how uninterested the people of this galaxy are in space exploration. If you do your Wookieepedia reading, you'll learn that hyperspace lanes are only available in about half of the galaxy and trying to travel outside of that area is more or less a death sentence. I think that's why the word "galaxy" takes the place of "universe" in their civilization. Even the Force itself seems to be intrinsically a part of this particular galaxy and nowhere else, which explains why these people never seem to ponder what lies beyond their own little sandbox in space.

hera vs the senators is the republic equivalent of dedra vs the ISB in Andor, or carson teva not being able to get help to deal with the pirates on navarro. Star wars always has that theme of one individual or a small group who wants to take action and the big complacent institution that doesnt want to do anything to aid them. Im actually surprised Hera didnt chastise them further on how nonchalant they seem to be that not long ago 2 force wielders literally came out of nowhere and busted out a prisoner that had ties to thrawn, IMO even if the shipyard incident was 'minor', having that escaped prisoner should at least be of a greater concern. Or maybe the higher ups are used to it by now. "Why last week there was this moff we had in a prison transport, some guy named gideon, he escaped too"

Hera is it really wise to trust Chopper to take care of Jacen? 🤣 Love that they did his hair green. 😄 Also fuck you senator Xiono, as Hera implied you are just a coward. Same for the rest of them, chancellor included. 😈 So Sabine is getting the hang of the Jedi combat precognition however still can't do telekinetic feats. But as Ahsoka said training is more important than innate talent. Damn those Purgil were giant and beautiful. Really nice seeing them on live action. And we finally got Marrok talking. Like how Ahsoka is doing a different type of approach to Jedi training. And she is right, the old Jedi Order methods failed to see the Sith threat hiding and walking amongst them. By the way, those fighters reminded me of old airplanes from WW2.

The writers did Hera dirty in that meeting w/ the senators. She should've mentioned that Ezra and Thrawn were not blown up, they were taken away by the Purgill to an unknown location. Then also mention Morgan Ellsbeth was just recently broken out of the New Republic's custody, they have tracked her, she has Force users on her side along with a map to another galaxy. Even if The New Republic didn't believe her about Thrawn they should at least want to recapture their former prisoner, right?

As always, your higher level analysis is on-point. I couldn't agree more with your point about episode pacing like chapters in a novel; one thing that people seem to occasionally forget is that if you start a scene you need to finish it, with a cliffhanger or otherwise. I was fine with where the episode ended, because we got a bunch of really important character growth for Sabine and Ahsoka's relationship, in both mentor-mentee ways and otherwise. It was also visually stunning. And had they tried to stretch it out for another scene, it wouldn't have ended on as compelling a note with respect to what comes next, and it would have dragged to a forced stop, which always feels worse. Cheers!

The way marrok delivered the line “as you wish” was straight out of force unleashed so I’m in that train. I’d also not be opposed to the cloning theory, that it’s a clone of Ezra or something like that. The starkiller also has thematic relevance because it’s Vader’s apprentice vs anakin’s apprentice to the point where we might get Hayden as anakin and Vader, who knows!!! Overall a fun episode but too short, not in a bad way tho. I just feel that with this one in particular, I’m wishing for that hour run time for all of them.

I don’t want to sound like all the people who have been trashing the first 2 episodes, but I really think that Mon Mothma would’ve had a better chance of convincing the council in support of Hera…had Hera mentioned that a Jedi was in on the investigation. Idk any interactions between Ahsoka and Mon Mothma, but I think she’d trust the threat that Hera was conveying due to the seriousness of a Jedi’s involvement, rare as that is at this point. Still, I loved the chase sequence that Ahsoka and Sabine had. Can’t wait for next week😭😂🤙

22:25 That's not quite accurate. The Star Wars galaxy has always had seven satellite dwarf galaxies. One's even referenced in the prequel trilogy: the Rishi Maze (aka Companion Aurek). And those have shown up in various Legends lore. In Legends, the Nagai/Tof invasion (right after the Battle of Endor) was an extragalactic invasion from the Firefist galaxy (aka Companion Besh), which also showed up on a map image in the prequel trilogy. Don't know if this galaxy in this show is supposed to be one of these seven or a more distant one. Maybe the latter, since travel between the companion dwarf galaxies has historical precedent and didn't require extraordinary measures like the Eye of Sion. The only record of truly distant extragalactic travel was the Yuuzhan Vong invasion from their galaxy, but that trip took them generations. So, that might be an indication that the galaxy in this show is maybe just one of the more distant of the (relatively close) dwarf companions. No matter how cool your big hyperdrive ring ship is, you can't just scale up big hyperdrives to get a constant speed increase to make intergalactic travel within reasonable timeframes.
@Omn1Media Жыл бұрын
That's why I specified canon Star Wars. Legends isn't canon. The Rishi Maze and others have been mapped as in they know where they are but have never reached.
@blackbenetavo7715 Жыл бұрын
@@Omn1Media Sure, but lots of Legends stuff gets co-opted back into Disney canon (if it doesn't conflict with the new timeline) as new sources reference older stuff. I just meant that, in the original EU, there was dwarf galaxy travel (the Rebels even had a mining base in the Rishi Maze). So, was trying to speculate on how distant this galaxy must be if it requires the Eye of Sion to get there. Sidenote, I find the Eye of Sion's parallel to the Outbound Flight Project interesting, considering the Thrawn connection.
