I like to think Galactic History Parts 1, 2, and 3 is an injoke referencing the prequel, original, and sequel trilogies. So of course Ahsoka would say part 1 is the best.

That line also felt like a nod to Mel Brooks and History of the World, Part 1.

Nice thought, though the sequel trilogies technically have not occurred yet, so would not be history to Ahsoka. Unless Ahsoka has access to Spaceball technology and can get the video cassette before the future history has played out.

I love the whole "three fates, thread of fate" vibe from the Great Mothers
@matthewrosen3970
@matthewrosen3970 11 ай бұрын
The Three Fates bit is intentional: The credits name the Great Mothers as Aktropaw, Klothow, and Lakesis, a reference to Atropos, Clotho, and Lachesis, the Three Fates in Greek mythology.
@Dilligff
@Dilligff 11 ай бұрын
I think the Great Mothers are, in fact, the same Greek Fates. My theory is that Feloni and Favreau are planting a small anchor point in the SW universe for potential multiversal crossovers. Marvel has already established that gods and deities exist as advanced alien species from other worlds. This would cast a thread from a different direction.

💯 Agreed! This would be a great way to honor Ray’s legacy. Depending on whether Dave has a further need for Baylan in future live action stories…the list of actors who could even approach Ray Stevenson’s presence is short. My first choice would have to be Liev Schreiber, 2nd, possibly Gerard Butler…after that, I just don’t know.

@@MrWord283 That's my point. Who would they get to voice Baylan since Ray Stevenson is no longer here? I mean, they've got MASSIVE shoes to fill, because Ray was badass! Corey Burton voicing Dooku in TCW and other Star Wars media outside of the movies is understandable, and his Dooku voice sounds similar to the original, but casting someone else to voice Baylan? Again, massive shoes to fill since Ray was just dominating the role here, and this was his last one ever.

High five on being the first person to call out the use of kintsugi on the troopers. Especially with them being called "Night Troopers" it's almost certain that it's not just their armor that was repaired, but their bodies as well with the Nightsister magick like we saw with Marrok earlier. Also, Baylon having an orange blade for his saber as well as using Qui-Gon's fighting stance against Ahsoka really makes him a dark reflection of those philosophies.

I get the sense from the final scene that Thrawn is highly uncomfortable with his dependence on the Nightsisters and the entire point of letting Sabine go is getting rid of her, Ezra, Baylon and Shin so there are no other unknown quantities/force users around to complicate matters. Also I can't wait for Timothy Zahn (who else) to write at least one novel about Thrawn's exile. From the alliance with the witches, the barely defined Marauders to the cult-like stormtroopers there's a lot of potential for a very different Thrawn story.

@@zephyrfromzephex6618 I feel like he knows to get loyalty you have to return loyalty. I'll be the first to admit that I'm behind on the new books but in old lore he executed an incompetent crewman on his deck for refusing to accept fault. He then promoted a failed crewman who had done nothing wrong according to conventional wisdom to provide the carrot and the stick for his crew. He understands the mentality and won't waste those under him (his argument against the death star was that it was inefficient rather than moral objection) but he doesn't actually care for them and will absolutely send units of stormtroopers against master jedi just to see what they will do. His crew may be fanatical enough to die for him but he's not the sort to take the standard rebels approach where the leaders fight with those under them because he is more critical to the empire's success than any of the troops under him and it could cost him. He places too much value in himself to ever risk a self-sacrificial play so his opponent doesn't need to win, playing for a draw where they both die is a win (this is what Sherlock Holmes uses to beat overwhelming odds in his movie and what was used against Thrawn previously in Rebels.)

This episode had everything- the Chimaera, Thrawn, Nightsister Mothers, Chirrut bodying Broom Boy, Ezra, Gladiator-faceplate trooper Enoch, the clean mass-shadow-absent hyperspace of the void between galaxies, a good boy, a Nightsister version of Jedha, whale graveyard, a possible canonical answer as to who is telling us "A Long Time Ago..." in every saga movie...

Qui Gon says to Anakin, concerning the midichlorians: "If you learn to quiet your mind, you will hear them speak to you!". I would say, if you have fewer M's, you need to train harder to make your mind even quieter but you can still learn to hear them. So, it has always been a combination of talent, training and spirituality.

For this episode Dave and team just decided to write down a list of their favorite series’ and absolutely nail the vibe of each one?! Lord of the Rings, Game Of Thrones, Dune, Shakespeare, The Bible too I guess?.. And they made it Star Wars. Such a good episode! I’m too young to remember a pre cannon Star Wars, so I don’t have the same feeling of nostalgia here, but based on how I felt when Ahsoka was first reintroduced into live action, I’d say they did an amazing job with Thrawn, and I’m so happy for fans to finally get to see him come to life!

I could imagine ezra sved the little guys from the samurai bandits some time ago and is kind of their protector, thats why they wear the rebel symbol out of respect. the fact that the cannot stay long at one playe I believe strengthens that point

Man, this is why you'll always be the best Star Wars reactor, such a great memory and knowledge of Star Wars but also things like Kintsugi! I was going crazy when I saw the repaired stormtrooper armor with cracks of gold, such a fucking great aesthetic and truly makes his "army" one of his own, makes me think of like a Warhammer 40K army that he detailed. So fucking good. Also RIP Ray Stevenson, god everytime I see his cool ass I'm just saddened by the loss.

At the beginning... I was fanboying hard and was ready to pop some popcorn and grab a blanket for "Storytime with Huyang." I could see a series around that. I'm enjoying more detail regarding the Dathomirian Witches and their ways of connecting with the Living/Cosmic Force and all that is getting special attention. I totally love how, with one word or phrase, Filoni can alter the entire Star Wars canon (Bokken Jedi.) Wow. All the wolf-like visuals... all Filoni. But Thrawn... spot on about how one can tell that Lars is having an absolute blast playing this character in live action. It's just too cool for school to finally see him. Enoch reminds me of a character from Fallout: New Vegas. Legate Lanius. Kudos to the practical effects team, they are so talented. Ezra looks like his dad from the photo from Rebels. Last bit, a prediction... Thrawn wants to know all about Ahsoka including who her master was... tie in to Zahn's novel "Alliances."

This episode was amazing. Even without having seen Rebels, I could feel the emotions in Sabine and Ezra's reunion just through the strength of the actors' performances. And Thrawn was incredible. The scale of this episode made it clear just how much Star Wars as a franchise owes to Dune and Lord of the Rings; those influences were on full display here. Bendu's line about Ezra being the Radaghast of the Jedi was both hilarious and a deep cut, and once again I agree with Kyle in feeling so sad about Ray Stevenson's passing. Baylan Skoll is a fascinating character, and I wonder what he's hunting for on Peridea. Also, the music and sound design this episode were immaculate. Can't wait to see how this all wraps up!
