Thrawn sending 2 squads after Sabine and Ezra is a nod to heir to the empire, the book where Thrawn originated in the 90's, where he sent 3 squads and some additional forces after Luke and Mara Jade, Luke's wife in legends, to wait for them as they came out of the jungle into a nearby city.

Thrawn is perfect. Ray Stevenson continues to steal literally every single scene he’s in. I find Baylan absolutely riveting and that’s largely thanks to Stevenson’s tremendous performance.

But now he's got magic basically the force, on his side too, and he's not gonna let himself get surprised by the force and something like the force again, why he wanted to know all about Ahsoka, and used the nightsisters immediately, to not take any chances. But he also knew Anakin, so wonder how he'll react when he finds out that Anakin was Ahsoka's master.

I love how Thrawn is using the 3 Nightsister Great Mothers to see the future. Filoni has based them off of the Fates of Greek mythology Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos and renamed them Klothow, Lakesis, and Aktropaw.

Baylan is playing a long game against Morgan, Thrawn, the New Republic - everyone. I think he's only there because it was a way to get to Peridea. He talks about the repeating cycle of history - he wants to break that cycle, and he thinks there is a power on Peridea that will allow him to do it - and that power will take care of both Thrawn and New Republic, thus his lack of concern for a conflict. "One must destroy in order to create" - he believes that whatever power is on Peridea will wipe the board clean, and allow him to basically start over, shaping the galaxy in a new way that breaks the cycles.

With the hints we have been given over what happened to Sabine's birth family, we can probably safely assume this is the second time Ahsoka told her not to go help her family when they were in danger. The first time that happened they died horribly. Sabine "everything I did was for family" Wren was not going to let that happen again. It's a choice that's going to have consequences, and I'm excited to see what they are, I know it's going to hurt. But I know exactly why she did it. Now it's just.....fixing everything somehow. Which I hope she'll get the chance to do.

Regarding the boxes...Morgan stated that they were loading the "catacombs" into the Chimera. Catacombs hold dead people, mummies. I believe they are loading either dead Nightsisters or their deceased demon army to take back to the Star Wars galaxy. There, the Nightsisters will either resurrect them to rebirth their civilization on Dathomir or they will serve as Thrawn's personal army. Also, they referred to the stormtroopers as "NightTroopers". I believe the Chimera actually crashed on Paredia and these are the stormtroopers that actually died. The Nightsisters resurrected them and helped Thrawn repair the Chimera. I think Ezra escaped when the ship crashed and Thrawn has been looking for him while they have been on the planet.

I think she could kill her before. Sabine being a padawan like her, how she can't use force etc. very interesting to her I guess. Also looks like her master and Shin not fully Dark Side, they had somewhat a good relationship between them, nothing like Sith. Ahsoka, Luke, Baylan and Sabine feels like different shades of force. Maybe they build a Jedi Academy there and become House Masters LOL Luke is Gryffyndor, Baylan is Slytherin, Ahsoka is Rawenclaw and Ezra is a Hufflepuff

I really felt the seeds of misgivings on their part this episode. I’m not even really sure Baylan is fully allied with Thrawn. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” I think he’s been using Thrawn/Morgan this entire time to further his own journey/mission.

I might know what's in those "humming containers". In the book, Heir to the Empire, Thrawn used creatures called Ysalamiri, "Ysalamiri were lizard-like tree-dwellers about 50 centimeters in length native to the planet Myrkr, most known for their ability to repel the Force by creating a Force-neutral bubble." This might be what Thrawn was unloading, maybe preparing for the Ahsoka's visit.

I wonder if Ezra got to practice and maintain his Force abilities during his exile. I also wonder how exactly Ezra and Thrawn got separated once they got to the planet OR if Ezra and Thrawn fought each other once on the planet and he managed to escape. I would have thought together they would have to team up to survive. I think it would be interesting if, to Ezra and Thrawn, time passed by differently and they think only a few years or so passed by. I also want to see Ezra's facial expression when he first sees Sabine using his lightsaber. Will she have to give it back to him? I gotta admit, there is a part of me in the back of my mind that is a bit skeptical of Ezra and wonder if he may not be the person Sabine think he is or hopes he still is. Perhaps being in exile so long changed him a lot or gave him a different perspective. I wonder if he got to commune with Kanan in The Force or he shut himself off to The Force after all this time.

So what if she calls him to free her? Also, the night sisters seem to want to get away asap, which could be because of her too

There is a good chance that all of Thrawn's stormtroopers (Night troopers) are just like Marrok. Just night sister magic and air. All of the suspiciously coffin looking cargo that was being loaded onto Thrawn's ship (The Chimaera) are likely the bodies of his dead army that he intends to bring back to have a proper burial. Just a hunch...

Your guess on the cargo matches mine ... although it's worth noting they did mebtion it was coming from "the catacombs". I think they are bringing a Night Sister army back to the main galaxy. That may have been part of whatever bargain Thrawn made for supplies etc. I love the aesthetic of Thrawn's troopers. Not just showcasing the lack of Imperial supplies, but also Thrawn is an art lover, to see the use of Kintsugi (the gold lines) in the repairs, the Romanesque Mask on his off sider, and the Dathomiri ribbons as potentially an artistic tribute to his hosts .... so good!

Oh and as many are saying Baylan is one of the most interesting characters we've had in a long time. He's doing a great job of being an antagonist without really being a "villain" in the classic sense.

Actually, the Purrgil do venture to other planets within systems. They need to consume certain atmospheric gasses in order to fuel their hyperspace jaunts - which is what they were doing at the mining colony where the Ghost crew first encountered them in Rebels. According to info gathered elsewhere, the ancient Night Sister planet where the hyperspace Ring was launched from is the last "filling station" for these gasses, and is consequently the "jumping off point" for intergalactic travel (at least to Thrawn's current galactic location).

I'm curious to know if in addition to having been a Jedi Knight and a General, if Baylan had also been a Master with a Padawan. I'm wondering if the death of his Padawan during Order 66 was the breaking point for him. If losing him or her was what made him so angry at the Jedi's blindness and failings to see that their greatest enemy Darth Sidious was literally right in front of them. Baylan has voiced how the idea of the Jedi was greater than the reality of the Jedi, which seems to be his greatest motivation to build a new Order which lives up to those ideals, as he sees them.

Baylan and Shin are so good. The chemistry between the two is fantastic like you really get a sense that Baylan is teaching her and mentoring her with the stories and little things he tells her and you can tell she holds onto every word and follows him like a puppy lol it’s so neat to finally get some dynamic “dark side” characters.

Figured it out. Baylan Skoll is trying to get rid of the two groups, jedi and sith and make them into one group as force users. He got tired of the conflict between force users and now sees that the only way to stopping the cycle is by uniting all force users. That's the new beginning he seeks.

@MAC React, 22:06 Wasn't Thrawn at the top of the ISB? He would have known of Luke and many of the Rebels, known the facts of his enemy is this dude's business. The beginning of this story established that the Night Sisters' Great Mothers communicated to Morgan Elsbeth through dreams/visions, so I figure Thrawn knows quite a bit, actually. He could not conquer this galaxy, let alone this world--he's lost numerous troops--and we can already see that he's very eager to get back to his own galaxy, a place that he understands very well. He'd have access to Imperial reserves, the means to truly begin anew, information is his business and he knows everything there is to know about the Empire, and with loyal Imperials inside the New Republics government on all levels, it's doomed to fall apart quickly, the moment he announces his return. Thrawns return will give Imperials who when they thought they had little or none. What's in their cargo? I never thought they could have been bodies, but Thrawn did mention death and resurrections being the tricks of Jedi and witches, so you might be on to something, but why would they need to resurrect fallen from this galaxy in another galaxy? Why not just do it here, if that's the goal. The cargo isn't Thrawn's but the Night Sisters, Thrawn mentioned that while talking about the terms of his agreement with the Night Sisters. Other than bodies, they could be things like relics or the like. The Night Sisters of this new galaxy want to stay tethered to both galaxies, and communication through dreams likely isn't the best way to do that. Morgan has abilities, but she's not on the same level as these Great Mothers, she's probably something more like a Padawan amongst her people, nothing like a Jedi Knight or Master--had she been more attuned to Night Sister Magic she would have put up a better fight against Ahsoka in the Mandaloian. Are the Great Mothers making the trip too or are they staying behind? I'm getting the impression that they are staying behind. What's the power calling to Baylon? Are there Jedi in this galaxy? Huyang knows of other galaxies because of Jedi Temple records! Ezra can't be the one that scares the Night Sisters, right? He's the one in hiding! Still, they haven't caught him yet after all these years and Thrawn has lost numerous soldiers during his time here, though that wasn't all Ezra's doing. Illness, a lack of supplies, and the Tuskins-like Nomads of this new world likely contributed too, judging from what Enoch told Sabine before sending her on her way. The Night Sisters specifically said "Jedi" so we aren't talking about any old Force Users. If there are other Jedi in this universe, why hasn't Ezra hooked up with them? Do they look down on him because he doesn't look like them? He's a Bokken Jedi, one raised after the fall of an order that followed the practices that held for thousands of years. Ezra is a Jedi of his master's generation, soldiers. Coincidentally, Ezra's isolation and exile have made him more like the Jedi of old, lol. He's dressed in robes and wears a beard now like Dooku, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan. Thrawn's desire to ensure his return could be his own undoing. He knows a Jedi is coming because the Great Mothers told him one is coming with "travelers," which is what they call the Purrgil. Thrawn doesn't know how many are coming, yet he's ordered his means of return to fire on any that come towards the planet. We know a large pod of Purrgils is coming, is that Death Star Class Hyperspace Ring equipped to attack that many targets? These aren't mere animals, but sentient beings, and Thrawn should know that. Why not assume they have their own style of attack and defense? The species Thrawn wants to fire on is the very same one that stranded him here! What's he going to do if they crash into his Hyper Space Ring or speed it away to a different galaxy that is far, far away? While I understand Thrawn's desperation to get back home, this movie seems a bit stupid, especially since he doesn't know the full story. Why not have the ring move into the atmosphere since we know it can do that or to the opposite side of the planet to make his escape easier? His Star Destroyer the Chimera is in ill repair, we saw the damage as it approached the Night Sisters' stronghold, and did you notice its lack of working engines? I assume that's why they stayed in this world. They lack the fuel and power to go to other worlds or solar systems in this new galaxy. Anyway, I cannot wait to see what's going to happen next. Can they really wrap this story up in just two episodes? I'm starting to feel that this is going to need another season to truly be satisfying.

It was the great mothers dark magic that reanimated Thrawn's dead troopers. (Night Troopers... reference to the night king in GOT). Notice the crimson red threads of cloth wrapped around his troopers. They are just the same a s Mallock. So now he is calling on them again to perform some magic act. Can't wait to see what it is🤐

Thrawn is a master of fighting, without fighting. He used, or is trying to use, Sabines quest to find Ezra as an easy way to dispose of Baylen and Shin. Genius! Pretty obvious Baylen is conflicted. I feel like he wants to see the rise of Thrawns empire so he can restore a new Jedi order, his Jedi order.

I interpreted "Die well" very differently than you two seemed to. I don't see it as an insult at all - quite the opposite, I think it's a salute from one warrior to another. I see it as Enoch actually treating Sabine with a great deal of respect here, particularly as it follows him warning her about the bandits. It's even possibly a nod to Legends Mandalorians, who had "Die proud" as a respectful farewell, though I freely admit that's a bit of a stretch.

For you Rebels fans out there, Thrawn and Ezra have FINALLY entered the chat. As for this casual noob, they were the ONLY highlights of the episode (apart from Baylan and Shin). This, in my humble opinion, might be my least favorite episode of the season thus far. But, that's more of a me thing than anything. While it was/is glorious to finally get to see Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger in the flesh, it's almost like there's more questions than answers. I'm sure, with 2 episodes left, we might get those answers. Still excited for the final 2 episodes.

What the heck is Baylan hearing? He’s being freaking weird chasing some children’s story and I feel like Shin just wants to get outta there. He’s being super vague with her too for some reason, like he’s not telling her everything. Shin clearly is uncomfortable with the witches, wasn’t a plan of going after Sabine and immediately noticed the witches are spooked by something and are in a hurry to leave.
