People always seem to forget that the World Between World episode is NOT the only time we see the WBW in Rebels. Ezra went there multiple times before that. The portal in the temple on lethal is just one of the ways to access it. Ahsoka accessed the World Between Worlds this time as she almost died. It's kind of like her "soul" entered the WBW. Both she and Anakin were there. It's called the "cosmic" force for a reason. We know Anakin was able to return his consciousness when he became a part of the cosmic force, just as Yoda & Obi Wan did. Everything really happened... it just happened to take place in this more cosmic arena.

If Filoni is able to hand episodes like he did with the last two, I can't imagine what it's going to be like when Thrawn shows up. Arguably one of the biggest villains Star Wars has had yet, he's the big bad right now. I can't wait we are for sure getting him now. All the footage from the trailers except for his scenes have been shown. It's all new from here on out people... man I am so giddy!!👏

I love the idea that Anakin is serving penance as the Guardian of the World Between Worlds. He and Ahsoka both have a connection to the Mortis Gods, who are in turn connected through the mural to the WBW, so perhaps they can access it in a way others can't. From a "space magic" perspective, that's good enough for me.

I was blown away by this Episode 5 of Ahsoka. It left me completely speechless. I can’t wait to see what happens on Tuesday. This episode left me with the same feeling I had when I watched Revenge Of The Sith for the first time in 2005. I also was so happy to see Hayden Christensen really be able to act his heart out as Anakin. He was so naturalistic and charismatic in the episode. He brought so much nuance and depth to his line delivery. It felt like major redemption for him after years of many people complaining he was stiff and wooden as Anakin, he was a bad actor and ruined Star Wars. I’ve never agreed with that. He blew me away for years with his excellent acting performances in Life As A House And Shattered Glass, not to mention the TV show he starred in: Higher Ground. Everytime I rewatch these all I’m still amazed at his talent and intensity as an actor

This has officially become one of my favorite shows of all time. Kevin Kiner's music combined with Hayden's brilliant performance as Anakin, kicking ass in the clone wars with Ashoka and being her mentor. This is what I've always wanted to see.

@metallicnole4514 I can't say, because I did see Rebels and Clone Wars, but it also was a long time ago. If you are interested in what it all means, read up on it and rewatch it. You will probably love it if you think the lore you missed out on is fascinating. my take on the WBW is that it's this meeting place of the spiritual realm and the physical realm. The Rebels episode dealt with accessing the WBW in a physical capacity, whereas Ahsoka's brush with death alongside Anakin watching over her from the afterlife meant we got to see her access the WBW spiritually. If anything, it solidifies the concept of it being a "world between worlds"

I think she was physically transported to the wbw. Her being enveloped in water is her being sent back.
@BleachO Жыл бұрын
I agree, it's just like a sort of Limbo or spiritual waiting room. I don't think it needs to be explained as anything other than a spiritual realm associated with the Force and force visions/vision quests. Ahsoka's body was in the water the entire time, it was her spirit that was in the WBW, like how in many movies when a person is near death they are in like a white spiritual place and see their god or grandmother or someone who tells them "it's not yet your time" and then they wake back up in their bodies and continue on their journey with a newfound value or mission.

Dave Filoni earned Huyang's moment of melancholy, and sadness. Huyang is the memory of the Jedi, and you almost though he wasn't just speaking about Ahsoka and Sabine, but the Jedi as well when he says. "I told them to stay together. They never listen." The Harry Potter reference is spot on, I thought of the very same thing,and its how I view the world between worlds myself. Yes, in the Mortis storyline the Daughter uses the last of her life essence to bring Ahsoka back, hence the reason Mori has been following her, and why soman believe she is the daughter, and Anakin is the father now.

What a great episode of Ahsoka. So much happened that was so emotional. Hayden's CG/Deepfake was so good I couldn't even tell there was any work done. The Siege of Mandalore looked like what I wish the prequels looked like. Unlike the prequel's Clone War scene on Geonisis, there were real sets, real props, and real people in real suits instead of almost entirely CG with a bunch of digital CG characters/clones in nothing but a CG-generated environment with bad green screen making it look like a big video game. The dialogue was also great in this episode. Loved the scenes with Anakin and Ahsoka. Sans the " I hate you! " line in ROTS this is the best performance by Hayden as Anakin. And Rosario is finally emoting more instead of just using that constant lethargic, listless, roofied-like delivery she was always doing before. The only thing that could've been better is having another storyline parallel to the one we saw that SW is known for doing. There should almost always be 2 to 3 storylines alternating in every episode. In this case, intermittently cutting back to Baylan and Sabine's plot would've been welcome. And it would've been great to see the entire group of Purgils jumping into hyperspace instead of just one at the end. Besides that, awesome episode.

I definitely agree with Smetts how this performance of Anakin helps bridge the prequel Anakin with the Clone Wars Anakin. When the Clone Wars first started, it took me out how different he was compared to the movies, but I grew to appreciate Lanter's voice over time. Then, when Hayden started appearing for Celebration again and spoke, it was wild how similar his normal talking voice was to Lanter and I felt if he ever appeared again with a script that had the personality of the Clone Wars Anakin, I knew Hayden could do it justice. Felt the same woth Vader too, his physicality in this(and the Obi Wan show too) sold it for me. Hayden's always been my favorite!

I think the greater force analogy Filoni was going for involves the Mortis gods; Ashoka Tano basically is "The Daughter" where Anakin Skywalker was "The Son" and I think in this analogy... Obi-Wan Kenobi or maybe the force itself is "The Father" in this dynamic. I believe when Ashoka Tano touched the mechanical ball with star chart coordinates it somehow linked her with the world between worlds pocket dimension. The entire sequence is basically Ashoka Tano's live action "forest scene" that Luke Skywalker had with Vader. Anakin here was most likely not only a force ghost but amalgamation of all of his past and future actions playing out all-at-once because time isn't a construct in the world between worlds or he was literally the embodiment of the force, I really like Kevin's Red Skull metaphor that he's basically in 'limbo' or maybe outcast 'himself' to this place to watch over for the rest of time. Now it's Ashoka's turn to go bring balance to the force.
@robbyerob Жыл бұрын
The ethereal realm was just that. Ahsoka's mind presented this World Between Worlds environment for her dream. There is also the fact that the Loth wolves also traveled in the World Between Worlds, so weather a gate, force travel or what ever, it is a existing place and would be the Force Dreams that all Temples have. This is where the living force flows constantly. Just MHI. Just another note, I feel like Filoni had described the growth of Ahsoka from the first season was deliberate, from bratty arrogant, to a lost soldier responsible for others lives. Her growth in the description from Filoni was at it's antithesis at Ryloth when she disobeys Anakin and her squadron is lost. This was a pivotal growth time in Ahsoka's life. This flash back Dave put in was really genius and played several levels in this story.

I've only seen the movies and these live-action shows, so I'm a bit out of the loop on this, but when did Anakin train Ahsoka exactly? Obviously, it was between Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith, but when we see him in ROTS, it appeared he was still Obi Wan's apprentice. I guess he was a full on Jedi if he was mentoring Ahsoka by that point. I was just a little confused by that. It was awesome to see Hayden Christensen again, though. Much better performance here than in the prequels, but I never blamed him for that. That was more of a directing problem, than him. It's also good to see Smets again. I'm glad he's staying healthy.
@hatsunevmiku7331 Жыл бұрын
I notice one thing, Anakin never said the training was over. meaning maybe not for the last episode but, he might comeback to finish or complete the training he decided to give her. Maybe that why there will be more vision with him training, because i notice one thing maybe that world between world is were force user spirit about to die goes to, to finish there training in the ways of the force, not necessarily the Jedi way. But harness the balance. even the world between world was different, so she was there spiritually and not physically meaning the one in Rebels still exist if the when through a open gateway, but that one was just different, and Anakin her master was there to greet her or push her on her back again because it was not her time yet.

Ahsoka has been there before. She was pulled in by Ezra through one of the portals. If Anakin has access to the realm or is the guardian of the realm, then he can reach through a portal and bring her in the same way Ezra did. She doesn’t need a temple to get pulled in, but she would need one to gain access on her own.
@agent666ptc Жыл бұрын
Maybe there was no gate and Anakin pulled her in like Ezra did? That's what I was thinking. Like I don't think there was a set gate where she was when Ezra pulled her in. Maybe you only need a gate to get in of your own action, but once you are in, you see certain gates to things you want to see. Like Ezra saw Kanan right before he was killed, and I'm certain there wasn't a gate on the side of the fuel tank on Kanan's side of the portal. Anakin is very much in the afterlife but still mixing it up. He mentions, after Ahsoka says that she won't fight him, that he has heard that before... a clear shout out to Luke saying the same thing in Return of the Jedi.

I don't believe it was actually Anakin in this episode. I believe it was the Force manifesting and working mysteriously with Ahsoka. The Force does some weird stuff with the characters over the course of the series: Luke's fight with Not-Vader on Dagobah, Rey's experience with the reflections, Kanan's interaction with Not-Grand Inquisitor, so on and so on. In these circumstances, the Force manifests as something from the mind of the character in a way that can be unexpected or doesn't make immediate sense but teaches a lesson. I believe that's what was happening here. In regards to whether or not it was "just in her head," either it was and Jacen has a strong ability to get into the minds of others, or it was more than just in her head.

In Rise of Skywalker we hear Ahsoka as a force ghost talking to Rey, which means she is dead by then, in this episode in World between the worlds she chooses to live. Does this means Dave retcons sequel trilogy and creates new timeline? I sure hope so, cause I just can't enjoy STAR WARS anymore knowing it leads to disaster that is a sequel trilogy
@bestlexluthor7596 Жыл бұрын
I dunno. Anakin didn’t visit Luke either and he was about to kill his nephew. Seems weird. Luke taking in the no attachment thing i thought was a big mistake but I’m guessing they were trying to match the sequels. It’s a tough nut to crack.
@Redjack10 Жыл бұрын
Dave Filoni has said multiple times that just because Rey hears Ahsoka does not mean she’s dead. And Star Wars was already a disaster with the prequel triology, so you’ll get over it.

We know that the voices didn't mean they were dead but on top of that it's still a long ways ahead of where we are in Ashoka

@@Redjack10 At least prequels were mapped out, had great story, execution wasn't the best, while sequels had no plan at all, story is just copy-paste of originals plus it destroys everything that came before, from original characters, to Palpatine's return, Anakin's not the chosen anymore, they can go with lightspeed through buildings, everyy star destroyer can blow up a planet, I don't even want to mention other stuff.........

Hearing the force theme at the right moment and for the first time in the series was so powerful. Imagine if it was used in Obi-Wan when he kept Leia from falling to her death.

I haven't liked Filioni's directing, but he's been doing better in this series, and this episode in particular was terrific. He did a really great job imo. He may just be a director after all!

I think the world between worlds is like stepping into the force. The force is everywhere all at once. So, I think there are places in the universe where you can slip into that world more easily than others. Or, if you are a powerful force user like Ahsoka then you can create portals into that world when you are in special situations like nearly being killed or highly emotional states like losing a loved one. So, I believe Ahsoka did slip into that other world and her body wasn't just floating in the water. When she and Anakin finished their lesson she slipped back into the real world. The x-wings couldn't find her because she literally wasn't there. Only Jacen could sense her. As for what Anakin is... if he became one with the force after he died then he could appear there in the world between worlds because it's the force and he's part of it now. The world between worlds is basically an evolution of the force ghosts we've seen in the past. It's just one step deeper into that spiritual world.

The major reason why I liked Ep5 is b/c Jacen Syndulla's burgeoning sense of the Force was critical in moving this story along. It represents how he can help tie up loose ends in the future especially (& unfortunately) where the Sequels are concerned. There should've been a more in-depth explanation as to how Anakin can just pop up in the WBW. I believe Ahsoka's previous WBW battle w/Vader in Rebels should've been referenced so it could've brought the audience AND the version of Anakin we're seeing up to speed! I believe the writing failed to seize the opportunity fully to make non-Rebels fans more invested SMH For instance: As a SW Fan, I understand how this ep ties back to the Clone Wars ep where Anakin & Ahsoka encountered the Trinity but I don't believe enough was done for casual fans to connect with. This vid (along w/New Rockstars' & Emergency Awesome's) has convinced me to back down a bit from that stance but I have the benefit of being a SW Fan for decades: I want new fans to be similarly as comfortable in order for the Franchise to continue to flourish! Andor is still the Best Star Wars content IMO since Mando S1: It took the basic concept of a no-name Rebel Leader in Rogue One and applied layers & layers of foundation = what the Ahsoka series should be doing vs. skimming the iceberg of what went on. That being said, Ahsoka's still better than Book of Boba...better than Obi-Wan & Mando S3 I think, too 🤔 Despite the flaws I mentioned, I believe Filoni should've done the Sequels 😓 His Passion, Dedication & Experience continuing Lucas' Legacy is unmatched! Love the Red Skull/Infinity War reference BTW 👍🏾👌🏾

Can anyone here tell me what happened with Freddie Prinze Jr? What is he upset about?

He's not upset about anything. He just thinks Kanan's story ended in Rebels and him doing anything more would dilute his story and meaning behind his sacrifice.

I feel like they set up this completely separate Galaxy so we can have the adventures of Jacen, Ezra, etc and explain away why they weren’t around for the sequels.

The thing that took some "blinders off" for me was seeing a age appropriate actress play young ashoka which really hit home the fact that she is a BABY war general!! It never hits the same way in animation even tho we kno how old she is ect, but seeing a irl girl that age in those scenes really made me realize "that BABY took on maul,ventress grevoius" ect..it also solidified for me that ashoka wouldn't have been able to defeat anakin on mustafar!! She may have held her own but if anakin went "all out" on her there is no way. It also made me think "anakin was 19 during the war..a kid, ashoka was this baby with the responsibilities if old men!" Just crazy! Responsibilities that fuck with old men minds (losing men,killing enemies ect) and that burden put on the shoulders of a child! On the note of de again I feel like they half assed the end of ep 4 because "let's save a bunch of money n effort because he is only gonna be seen has 1 or 2 seconds. Then put all the effort into ep 5! Also on hardens acting, we all know and heard lucas is NOT a "actors" director in terms of asking for specifics and giving actual "DIRECTION!" lol.. it was more apparent I'm assuming in Hayden simply because of his inexperience and age at the time and did the best he could with absolutely ZERO direction. As opposed to say ewan or sir Christopher Lee who were more inclined to guess their own direction or kinda pick n choose what they felt would work in each scene ect. They were just more experienced and were more capable of giving their best acting even with limited to no direction, wheras a Hayden or jake llyod needed lots of specific direction to get the perfect emotion out of them which they never got from lucas. On the subject of the main players being absent is really absurd! Like luke is just sitting at the construction site of his doomed academy on his high horse(bantha?), nose up in the air "I feel a great disturbance in the force....the force that I put into balance with the redemption of my father!! So if the lessers out there wanna fuck up my balance this fucking soon!?!? They're on their own!!! May the force be with them"..lol. obviously I'm being an asshole n luke would never think like that, but WE wouldn't kno especially with how far he has removed himself from current events without explanation!

This was a fantastic episode! I love the fact I can’t predict anything.. I have just been enjoying the story so far . I did not watch any of the clone wars cartoons.. I love me some Rosario Dawson and she did a great job playing Ashoka in the Mandalorian . Im putting ANDOR and this as the best stuff since the last trilogy.. which I did not like except the force awakens. The music in this show really makes it feel like old school Star Wars .
